Patriots just cut Easley. Worth a risk?

Injuries, injuries, injuries. Easley can not stay healthy and it started with ACL tears to both knees in college. I'd pass as I can not recall a player ever released by the Patriots that has gone on to be better with another team.

Patriots cut Dominique Easley, he’s also facing alleged lawsuit for dog attack in Florida https://shar.es/1jhuXY via @footballpost

Dog story is a non-issue with me, but he plays the same position as Suh, so snaps would be limited - if he did stay healthy.

Upside is the question. At a low-risk cost.

To me the question is can Easley be a better option than what you had at 2-3 level of DL.

If so, then the risk is minimal, with a chance that he can play better than some starters for periods of time. Last year, Miami lost quality play at DT for long periods of time -- Mitchell especially, and Phillips to some degree, underwhelmed.

Maybe Miami can replace Raw Dog with Attack Dog, lol.

Yeah, but keep in mind that he shouldn't be lining up next to Suh on base downs, so he'd be more of a sub for Suh/a guy that comes in to play next to Suh on passing downs.

The reports are his knees are trashed and the pats didnt like the medical outlook and walked away

pass

They lost cap space by cutting him. This willnhave happened for a reason

So you're saying he's very limited on the positional help that he can offer? Most players can line up in multiple places if need be, or package calls for it, either ends or middle in 4-3.

Well, that makes a lot more sense than the dog story.

I mean, he's definitely not a 4-3 DE. I guess you could use him as a penetrating 5 in odd fronts.

Per pass rush he's one if the most efficient in the NFL.

And were the dolphins, putting a claim in for his talent is a no brainer IMO.

Why? Because were desperate for talent....

That was my reasoning as well, but if his knees are gone, it's only a wasted roster spot.

His injuries have forced limitations, especially vs the run. Nearing the end of his tenure with NE he was used strictly on third down passing situations where he lined up mainly on the nose and rushed QB.
