It is a MUST win! The Dolphins need to beat these guys, to show the world, we are ready to compete in the East. We need this win for confidence. If we lose, we are basically the same team as last year.

Needing a win is one thing. I doubt we come close to winning this game, they manhandled us last year and our oline still sucks
 
Yea, unfortunately I agree with you. We are toast on Monday. I'd be shocked if we win this one.
 
I can't bring myself to say a Week 1 game is must win. I mean, if the team plays an outstanding game but loses a nail-biter, it may be a step in the right direction. Don't forget this has been a short offseason, may need a few games to gel. Hopefully they enter the bye at 3-1 or 2-2 (if one of the wins if over the Pats).

Win would be huge week 1 though in primetime. Do it!!!
 
I think it'd be a huge win for the reasons you say, but at the same time, it isn't really a "must" win.
 
Since when is a division game not a must win?? Lol. Tell that to any team in the league. Alot of you know there's a good chance we'll lose so by saying its not a must win kinda softens the blow. I'm sorry but a home division game is a must win
 
In my mind we're already out of playoff contention before the season even starts BUT if we beat the Patsies on Monday night we're back in the hunt. So yeah its a must win.

Plus losing divisional games at home puts us 1.5 games behind so they are always way more important than non divisional games.
 
Not a must win but...

It's your best chance to win. Home game and BB has nothing to game plan on.
Don't wait til you come up to Foxboro when need a win.
Last year Pats Miami games? The Pats won by a combind score of 73-21 +/-

While I do not like calling it a "must win" game (and by definition it isn't), I cannot shake the feeling that the game will be a tone setting one. Winning it could be a massive boon for the team (and fans) and losing (at home) to the Patriots could lead to a "oh Jesus not again" feeling sweeping accross Phin-nation. So, while it is not a "must win" game it is most ****ing certainly one that could mean a lot in terms making a statement of intent to the league.

ya, but what about ''any given monday'', lol?

i really do believe though we will win this game. it will be a very tough hard fought game, but in the end, our team will feed off the energy from the fans, and we will win this game with a big defensive stand in the 4th.
 
I think our offense presents alot more problems to defend than what we ran before. New England has a big defensive line, well we won't run up the gut. We come out with 3 wide-Marshall, Bess and either Hartline or Gates, Bush in the back field with either a TE or I would put Thomas in the backfield with Bush to keep them guessing if we trying power running with Thomas or spread dink and dunk with Bush.
 
Theirs more not a must win than is a must win and that's crazy!! Game 1 of the season AT home isn't important? We barely can fill the seats now so a lost would really hurt the fanbase. Everyones saying its not important NOW. Then next Tuesday all those same ppl will be on here bashing the phins if we lose. Get Real. Isn't this a division game? Did I miss something or are these still the most important games of the season? I really can't think of a reason why we don't need to win this game. At the very least let's at least win for our pride and confidence. They beat us up bad last year. This isn't about revenge but personally I want a different outcome.
