The line most times is an aggregate, and what one player does can assist what another player is trying to do. His play could’ve allowed others to feast…I’m not versed enough to say either way, but it seems that type of thing is often mentioned about line players. That’s hard to believe considering the way Phillips was stonewalled. It’ll be nice when he starts chipping in. And AVG, too.
Agreed. But it did seem that Phillips was wiped out by Trent Brown one-on-one for most of the game. I didn’t see him being double teamed, allowing other pash rushers to feast. I have faith that it’s only going to get better as the season progresses. The line most times is an aggregate, and what one player does can assist what another player is trying to do. Phillips didn’t have a good game and there is no denying that. AVG had a legitimate excuse for not being up to par. He is still recovering from having his appendix removed less than 3 weeks ago and I’m sure that had something to do with his play on Sunday. That’s hard to believe considering the way Phillips was stonewalled. I think I heard AVG only got seven snaps on D. Hard to contribute under those circumstances and coming off his surgery. I‘m with you as far as expecting both guys to be much more impactful as the season progresses. At least Phillips was hustling enough to recover the fumble.Phillips didn’t have a good game and there is no denying that. AVG had a legitimate excuse for not being up to par. I expect both Phillips and AVG to play at a higher level as the season progresses.
I really didn’t check how many snaps he had in the game. Personally I was surprised he was even active for the game since the surgery was less than three weeks ago. I give him credit for getting back so soon and as I stated earlier, he will be more effective once he is fully recovered and gets more playing time.I think I heard AVG only got seven snaps on D. Perspective - I love it.The line most times is an aggregate, and what one player does can assist what another player is trying to do. His play could’ve allowed others to feast…I’m not versed enough to say either way, but it seems that type of thing is often mentioned about line players.
Wasn't that blatant holding on the last drive on Phillips? I'd count that as something.Phillips didn’t have a good game and there is no denying that.
