Vikings coach Brad Childress believed the Patriots would grab the Florida star at No. 23 but beat them to it.

Chad O'Shea, who was a Vikings offensive assistant for three years before joining the New England Patriots as their wide receivers coach in February, might have inadvertently helped Minnesota get Florida wide receiver Percy Harvin with the 22nd overall pick in the first round of the NFL draft.

The Patriots worked out Harvin the day after Vikings coach Brad Childress visited him and indicated to Harvin they would draft him.

I am glad that Harvin isn't a patsie. He could be more dangerous than Welker in the spread that they run.
 
That was a nice pickup for the Vikings. Already having a very good D, strong O-Line, top RB and now a dependable QB in Rosenfels, Harvin could be what makes that offense very dangerous (as long as he gets his act to-gether).

Have to say I liked the Vikings draft, they addressed all of needs.
 
Interesting stuff.

I'm really wondering (1) if Percy Harvin had still been available at #25, would the Dolphins have taken him? and (2) if so, would they still draft Pat White at #44?

Imagine Pat White AND Percy Harvin running the Wildcat, along with the usual cast.

How can you say that about Rosenfels???????

If ever there was ever a Jekyll and Hyde QB it is him. Dazzling one minute and dismal the next. No, not dependable.

The shaky O-Line he had in Houstan did'nt help matters and also never been given the starters job on a permenat basis. At least with the Vikings he will have the time and not put in a pass orientated offense.

IMO Rosenfels will do well in Minnesota.

Given the right situation, i.e. the Pats or Colts, he could've been worked as a slot receiver, but on the Vikings I can't really see him succeeding. His skills as a true #1 receiver were already in question; without a capable QB throwing to him, I can't see a scenario, other than as a return man, where Harvin could make a Pro Bowl.

I would imagine that he was referring to your school's less than storied history of WR success in the NFL. I mean seriously, Cris Collingsworth?
