As most of us know many training camps have opened today including the New England Patriots. Well I went to the early session and needless to say it was a mistake, by the time I got there every seat was taken on the bleachers and the grass which forced me to stand behind the fence which is a good distance away. It didn't help I got there a half hour after it started.

Besides the trip and there being no seats available I was able to watch the practice and seeing it was the first day of camp you couldn't take much away from it. I was mainly watching the receivers and what I noticed is that the receivers coach seemed to always have to talk to Moss after some of the drills. The drill where this occured the most seemed to be when they were practicing to get off the line on bump and run coverage. Whether he was unmotivated or it was a because it was the first day of camp. I'll go with it being the first day of camp. Not many of the other receivers seemed to have much if any problems at all and seeing Welker in the Pats uniform was disappointing.:(

I couldn't really see the defenseive drills(because of where I was and an obstructed view) but I was looking for Adalius Thomas and couldn't find him I did see Rodney Harrison who seemed to just be standing in one spot for most of one drill(I don't blame him it was pretty warm out).

Take this review for what it is worth(not much) but I will be going back on Tuesday where I will likely be able to get good seats and give a more in depth report.

Chad Scott just got hurt:

Pats, Samuel won’t cave

FOXBORO - Day 2 of training camp. No other cornerbacks injured. No other defensive backs lost.
Chad Scott [stats] was the first casualty, landing awkwardly on his left knee on opening day and being taken away on a cart.
While coach Bill Belichick listed the cornerback as “day-to-day†yesterday, anyone watching the proceedings in the second session Friday night would speculate that those days might very well translate into weeks and possibly months.
It didn’t look good, particularly the way Scott (who missed the 1998 season with a torn ligament in the same knee) was favoring the leg as he attempted to put weight on it.

[mod]No smack talk please.[/mod]
I hate injuries before that season... hell I hate um anytime...

The Patriots secondary will be like swiss cheese without Samuel and now they lose Scott likely for a long amount of time. Their starters will be Randall Gay and Ellis Hobbs and Gay can't stay on the field and Harrison isn't much help to them anymore either.

Do you even watch football? Fwiw, Samuel will be back before the opener and Harrison/Meriweather will pound poeple in the secondary this year.

Samuel won't even put on Pats uniform until week 10 if he isn't traded by then. It is going to be interesting to see Harrison pound people from the bench, he hasn't even played 16 games during the past two seasons and a rookie will not be that much of a difference maker get your head out of your *** and quit being homer.

Once they run into teams like the Colts and other teams with good quarterbacks that secondary will get shredded. But apparently you think a 35 or 36 year old safety with knee problems and a rookie safety will keep teams secondaries in check.

The Patriots secondary without Samuel will struggle. I don't know why Patriots fans won't admit that. You won a SB with Troy Brown playing the Nickel. The pass defense wasn't nearly as good that year---with so many injuries, but you have so many players for depth. Depth isn't the issue, but to say that the pass defense won't take a hit just isn't true. Rodney Harrison is one helluva leader, but he isn't one helluva player in the pass defensive scheme. He just really isn't that solid these days. Plus, he has been injured the last 2 years maybe? Or 2 of 3? I'd take still in a heartbeat if we had a serious chance to win a SB this year because he's amazing against the run and provides so much leadership. Merriweather will be great. I don't know if he's going to be as successful at CB. I know they have him learning both teh CB and S positions---and look what happened to Jason Allen.

I think Samuel will hold out for some games---if not all 10. Deion Branch did it last year, so there is a precedent set on this team. It could certainly happen. Who knows though? Only Asante and his agent.

Deion Branch did not do it last year.

Chad Scott is done. Heard it on QAM. The Pats defense is going to drop down a notch this year IMO. Harrison is getting old. Bruschi is getting old. Seymore has not been playing all that great and played nicked up last year i believe.

We shall see, but as far as us playing them one on one, not worried about the WR clan because our defense i believe has the answere to that. Run ronnie brown right up there gut in the 4th quarter.
