I think there's something sinister going on here...

Ok but you have to keep it a secret especially from the dolphins front office.

Its called cap management.

I know its hard for dolphin fans to understand but NE's front office actually knows math.

:sidelol:

Cap management,
Also signing players to real contracts with less money towards the end of the contract.Bigger signing bonus then salary contracts. Hence the numbers put on the cap is low...A.thomas cap hit is 3.5 mill and 4.5 next ...it goes upto a max of 6.5 which is less for a good FA pickup. As salary`s are smaller the cap space is also good everyyear.

The players the Pats picked up in FA are productive, but the only impact player there is Stallworth. Aside from that, Patriot fans should be worried about their RB situation.:shakeno:

Ummm Adalius Thomas.....?

And I seem to remember the Patriots spending their first round last year on a running back....What was his name?

Lsing Dillon hurts the overall depth but IMO Maroney is going to pick up the slack and become the main back. According to the most reliable Patriots writer his injury is a non issue for the upcoming season. Don't be suprised if the Patriots draft a RB too.

Oh yea, I forgot, Adalius Thomas. You guys needed a LB anyway. He should be good. So yes, you did spend a 1st rounder on Maroney, but his ribs are a little dinged up. If he can stay healthy, good, if not, start throwing flags. Sammy Morris is not the long term answer.

the patriots won there first two sb with antwone smith .i dont see rb being a problem .if the holes are there and the oline plays well they will be fine with who they have with or without maroney

It's his shoulder actually. That was what really slowed him down. So he was playing hurt after the Detriot game. He's had the surgery for it and Doc says he should be fine for Training camp.
Pats are also switching to zone blocking for the running game, better suited for Maroney's style of running. Heck, we might even see Faulk bust a big one or two. Plus, I'm sure Morris can't have less talent than A. Smith.

As for the original question.
Thomas took less to play for NE, and Stallworth and Washington have incentive based contracts based on production. After that first season is when they really start to get paid.

what star players?

Oh, Donte Stallworth, Wes Welker, Sammie Morris....

I see

Well they did bring in Adalius Thomas but other than that, their moves are so over rated. They gave up WAY too much for Wes Welker, signed a decent backup running back, and got a WR who struggles to stay on the field and only runs fly routes. They're a good team, but these moves are being over hyped BIG TIME!

It looks like New England is making a major push for the super bowl

Wouldn't it be sick if they traded there 2#1s and whatever else is needed
to move up and get Calvin Johnson...Him and Brady would be downright sick!!!
