I read this in the Boston Globe this morning. Since his contract was re-done to make the trade with the pats during last April, he is not allowed to re-work the contract again during the NFL season which in NFL terms begins Feb. 29th....Teams must designate the franchise tag if they are going to use it all by the end of today I think?
There is a chance Randy may go elsewhere...stage of his career for his last chance at a big contract.
I don't think the Dolphins would persue him.... just my gut feeling

they can't resign him until then....but they can tag him:

from PFT:
ALL EYES ON NEW ENGLAND

With less than two hours to go before the deadline for using the franchise tag expires, NFL observers are casting an eye toward Foxborough, where the Patriots could be applying the franchise tag to receiver Randy Moss.

Because Moss restructured his deal to take less money in April 2007, he can't do another contract with the Pats until the start of the next league year. But this means that he'll technically hit the free-agent market before he can re-sign with the Patriots. Even if he has a verbal deal with the Pats, he can still entertain offers that might come in at 12:01 a.m. EST on February 29.

If the Pats don't use the tag, it's safe to assume that there is a verbal deal in place, and that Moss has promised to make it official at midnight sharp on February 29. If the tag is applied, then there's likely no deal in place -- and Randy's specific makeup could make it harder for a deal to ever get done.

A list of all tagged players is right here. In all, twelve players have been slapped with the franchise tag, and one player has been hit with the transition tag.

Send him to Tennessee, anythng just get him away from the Pats!!

I think a 2nd year in a Patriots uniform; just my gut; but teams are going to prepare a lot better for him; as well as have someone punch welker in the face coming off the line everytime...these coordinators are smart and the defenses are in the NFL for a reason; so I think I'm going with the old theory of fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me...Year two may be much tougher for ol' Randy and Brady to run rampid on everyone...but thats just my theory (they could also destroy the #'s they put up this year too)

I don't think the Dolphins could offer Moss enough money to even consider coming to Miami.
He is a poor loser and I highly doubt he would go to a team that is not a legit superbowl contender...
that said, it would be nice if he were out of the division.

randy and keshawn haha.. who would get the ball thrown to them? ginn would be our welker
lol.. lets do it.. hahahahha
hey just bring culpepper back then, o wait he never did anything with randy in the first place..
