Pats interested in Nelson

More importantly, both the Jacksonville Jaguars and New England Patriots have shown particularly strong interest in Nelson. Jaguars defensive coordinator Mike Smith had dinner with Nelson on Tuesday night. Jacksonville holds the No. 17 overall pick in the draft this year.
On Thursday, Patriots coach Bill Belichick and general manager Scott Pioli will have Nelson and linebacker Earl Everett go through a private workout at Florida. New England has two first-round picks this year, No. 24 (from Seattle in the Deion Branch trade) and No. 28 overall.

The Patriots 2 first rounders are about equal to ours on the value chart....

With their picks we could probably pick up Kalil and Meachem, Carriker, or Olsen....

id seriously offer the Patriots our #9...for their #24 and #28. hell ill throw in a 6th rounder and 7th rounder while im at it. now we have two first round picks...2 second round picks. then trade both our 2nd rounders, to pickup a THIRD 1st rounder...meh, i need to stop thinking "Madden style"

The pats would never trade up with us, considering they need WR and DB help, and can get both with thier 1st rounders. Hell, they might even have someone like Willis slide to them, or they might take Puz.

Belichick and Meyer are good friends. Pats scouts spend alot of time in Gainesville. They drafted or signed undrafted Gators like crazy last year, I think it was 5.

if we trade down - how bout the Ravens. They need Oline help maybe more than we do, with Ogden banged up and thinking retirement.... Levi might not be too much of a stretch for them. just a thought.

If we could get the Pat's first round picks... wow... my head might explode, I might burst an eye ball crying, so many physical ailments might occur from the pure overjoy of it that I may very well perish from such a magnanimous feeling.

Wow what a first day.

I doubt it will happen. LaRon Landry is still the best S in the draft so why would the Pats trade within their division to pick up another S ahead of Landry?

Our only shot would be for Landry to go in the top 8.
