I don't have a crystal ball but history is on my side with the speculation. Also the timing is interesting with Thigpen. Why wait until now if you are so interested in his talent?

oh i definitely think that these guys saw some patriots preparation work while they were here...you don't spend your entire preseason not putting in some things for your week 1 opponent...but what i'd do is if i was bill i'd call each of them in individually and to test how reliable they are period i'd ask point blank "what's brian hartlines favorite route to run???" and if either one of them said anything other than the comeback i'd immediately ask them to leave my office

Wonder how much pressure we can put on Brady, and if the LB can hold up which I seriously question (probably the biggest concern on the team with the OL and Safety play following). Will the offense be able to put 24-30 points on the board. No matter what Thigpen or Jones shares with them it will be about whether or not we can make enough plays to win.
Since we have gotten away from the simple Go-Go snap (which is a good thing) would expect were going to have some false start penalties, more than last year.

Timing is only interesting when someone is a paranoid fan. They're kicking tires on a division rivals talent. If he makes the team it's a win-win.
Guys like Rob Ninkovich once made the Patriots roster and he was concerned scrap heap by all accounts when he was a Dolphin.
I think some of the starters might have been in on some planning, but these bubble guys are given limited info because they are liabilities if they get cut. Pretty much anyone who played in game 4 of the preseaons focused on game 4, while the regular season starters were game planning imo.

I'm trying to go back and look for examples of where we signed players the week before, but it's impossible to narrow it down on the internet especially given how far I would need to go back. But I wish we'd do it more often that's for sure.

i don't think so...these bubble guys are only injury away from playing for you...they need to be prepared just like the regular starters...what they don't get though is the field reps...they get the mental ones though

Its completely overrated imo. If someone like Hartline or Miller were a surprise cut, there might be something, but we cut special teams players with limited info.
