Love it. One of the only offensive players even kinda worth anything and they just traded him. Waving the white flag this year. Great for us. I might revise my prediction 13-4....

What is the part they aren't doing? The picks might have value next year but right now they are without Michell 2 weeks out from opening.

Their depth at RB is solid, and overcrowded, and Michel was on the last year of his rookie contract.

They still have their leading rusher from last year (Harris), plus James White, JJ Taylor, and Rhamondre ******* Stevenson, who I really wanted on Miami.

You dont really believe that about waving the white flag do you?

As far as I'm concerned SM was a decent back, but in no way would I consider him "elite", or even a "carry the load" guy.

Don't get me wrong, anything that further weakens the evil bastards is OK by me.

Of course I don't. They'll fight but they weakened themselves on offense with that move.

I'm not sure of this. Sony Michel isn't an irreplaceable part of their RBBC. I liked him coming out of college, but Damien Harris basically made him expendable last year.

Michel has been very mediocre at best in recent years and there was some talk he would possibly be cut. Getting some draft picks for him is actually a big win for the Patriots and certainly isn’t a sign they are throwing in the towel on the 2021 season. In fact I think the fact Michel wasn’t really even considered an important player on the offense says that Belichick and the offensive coaching staff feel like they have better RB’s on the roster than Michel.

If the Patriots were having a losing season and traded Michel during the season for draft picks, perhaps that could be considered a sign they were raising the white flag but trading him before the season even begins certainly doesn’t imply that, IMO. It just another case of Belichick getting rid of one of his veteran players who he feels has his best years behind him. That is common practice for Belichick and the Patriots.
