Would I be a Parcells guy?
They had a great run..but it's over.
The dynasty is finished. Perhaps it is the result of so much success, but the Patriots can not handle failure. And it was the Patriots team that failed last night, just as much as it was the team that brought so much success. From the fighting on the sidelines to the missed FG, this wasn't the team that hoisted up the Lombardi trophy in past years. Through all their success they never learned how to handle it with class. As much as we all root for the underdog, the underdog has no class. Just like their fallen hero, Rodney Harrison. And they still insisted on behaving like the underdog, despite all their achievements. This may explain the way in which their QB whines over every poor play, and why this team that has had it so good for so long, can't own up to the fact that they were never great players, but players on a great team. But after losing both coordinators, which they were fortunate to hold on to for so long, and limping through the 2005 season, they finally became what the rest of the NFL has been during their remarkable run, the Patriots have become average. They are no longer a great team, but have returned to being a collection of good to average players. The reason that the Steelers, 49ers, and Cowboys were dynasties was because they never insisted that they were still underdogs, getting no respect, which is also why they handled their ultimate gravitational return so much better than these Patsies. They didn't blame refs or start fighting with their team, they walked with a swagger that the Patsies insisted they were above.
I only wish Rodney Harrison was on the field to experience the end.
