Paul Dee stepping down in '08

[FONT=Verdana,Arial, Helvetica] CORAL GABLES · Miami Athletic Director Paul Dee has announced he will step down from his position running the Hurricanes athletic program in June 2008.

Dee's contract expires in 2010, and sources say President Donna Shalala wasn't planning on extending it. So after serving 14 years in his position, the former Cardinal Newman High product decided to "walk away gracefully," a source said.[/FONT]

[FONT=Verdana,Arial, Helvetica] The search for his replacement will begin immediately and could include some familiar names: Wisconsin Athletic Director Barry Alvarez worked under Shalala when she was president at Wisconsin, and Central Florida Athletic Director Keith Tribble headed the Orange Bowl Committee for 13 years.

Also expected to be considered is Florida International Athletic Director Pete Garcia, Patrick Nero, commissioner of the American East Conference, and Ross Bjork, who serves as UCLA's senior associate athletic director for external relations.

Garcia, Nero and Bjork all have worked under Dee as associate athletic directors at UM.[/FONT]

Garcia just signed on with FIU, I don't see why he would go back to UM.
