Oliver was scheduled to work out for nfl teams today. Any1 know how his workout went? We're the dolphins present at the workout? I thought i remember seeing the dolphis were gonna have some scouts there but don't remember.

EDIT: Dolphins weren't in attendance, but teams could still have private workouts with him. The only team in attendance from AFC east were the bills. Still don't know the results though.http://news.bostonherald.com/blogs/patriots/

Georgia CB Paul Oliver ran his forty in the 4.5-4.58 range at his Pro Day, according to Scout.com. His vertical was 33.5 inches.

Oliver has size to help overcome the lack of long speed, but these numbers aren't that impressive. It's possible he'll get a look from Cover 2 teams or even as a free safety. Oliver did have success against Calvin Johnson a year ago, but probably won't go any higher than the third round next month.

I don't think he's worth anymore then a 4th or 5th rounder. His speed and inteligents would scare me off from taking him any higher.

Damn the 40 time really hurts him. He does have nice size for a corner and like some1 said may get a look at FS. From what ive heard on him hes a solid tackler. Still think we should give this guy a look becuase we need depth in our secondary in general, espeically a young guy with potential.

Until the Patriots resolve the Asante Samuel situation, the team will carry a hole in its loaded-up roster. And a guy who might be able to fill it will be on display today. Cornerback Paul Oliver will work out for NFL scouts, coaches and personnel officials this morning on the Georgia campus he's called home for the past four years in advance of the July 12 supplemental draft.

trying not to be biased, using all facts:

cmon guys...hes a first round pick projected if he came back to UGA guaranteed..he would have been borderline 1st 2nd if he came out early this year...hes was the best player on the really UGA defense (charles johnson and quentin moses were both letdowns) last year and the best corner in the SEC (not safeties) which is the most talented conference...hes a good kid with no character issues and alot of football smarts not school smarts... alot of athletes at UGA in athens get in trouble all the time but PO never got in trouble for anything...and on top of that shut down CALVIN not once but twice (4 catches and about 30 yards)

I understand we need to value or draft picks but we have to set out a fourth out there for him..it is one of our weakest position as of now and we did not address it in this years draft so we are going to use a pick next year on a CB anyways so we might as well get the best value out of that pick...all of this makes sense and is least biased as I can possibly be towards this subject considering I go to UGA.

His numbers suggest he is a great college corner but 4.58 for the pros? If he is drafted at all it will be very late!

Wasn't Quentin Moses also projected to go in the first round this year? A lot of players are projected to go in the first round but for many reasons, especially after they are evaluated...ie the combine and individual workouts... they drop. Paul Oliver won't be any different.

Paul Oliver
5'10" 195 (not 6' 210)
33" vertical
7.3 3-cone (would have been the second worse at this year's combine)

These numbers suggest that he will be lucky to be a first day pick in the NFL Supplemental Draft.

Had Drew Stanton come out after 2005 he would have likely been a higher pick than he was this season. Injuries, bad supporting cast, etc. Heck, Marino would likely have been a higher draft pick had he come out a year earlier than after his senior year at Pitt. There are NO guarantees unless you are eating Justin Wilson's cooking!

And Paul Oliver was by no means the best corner in the SEC this year.. Chris Houston was.
