Soliai was getting manhandled over and over against the Patriots. He was getting mauled by o-linemen who are about 50 pounds lighter then he is. We need to find a real good nose tackle because he is NOT the answer. When we put Tony McDaniel in, he played a lot better against the run then Soliai and McDaniel is not even a NT for crying out loud!!!!

I was never a huge believer in this guy because of his crappy work ethic. I agree that we need a big anchor at NT. I would draft one in the first 3 rounds no problem.
 
Soliai looked like a big wuss today. He didn't play strong or push the pocket or anything. A huge disappointment after looking real good last week.
 
I agree.. solid rotational player. Good depth but thats it.

Ferguson was out this game, Soliai had to many snaps..
Soliai is a boss, but he's to massive to play 80% of the snaps..

Soliai got great penetration a couple of times.
He's one of my favorite players, and i closely watch him each game, I have NO clue what you guys are talking about with that 'wuss' statement.

He'd eat you guys like you were an amuse bouche.

I don't know where he was when they were running up the gut for 80-90 yards today. I am not saying he is a bust but I am not convinced he is the solution either. I mean he cannot press Ferguson for the starting job when ferg is about 1-2 years from retirement. That doesn't say much and yes his work ethic has been suspect.
 
I don't know what game you were watching but Soliai was getting abused all day long. He was one of the biggest reasons the Patriots were running up the gut with success. I seen numerous plays where Soliai was getting totally dominated by one o-lineman. He is FAR from being a BEAST. He looks like a bloated toad who plays soft and it showed today
 
Soliai got injured early on.

Randy Starks is still a beast though.
 
Wow, Alright, the only defense I'll give him is he was injured in the first quarter, and they didn't even know if he was going to come back... But he KNEW he was needed with Ferg out and i thought he played okay.
I never said he had a great game, but to judge if he's starting material off this one game is dumb. he's been progressing all year, and if he didn't play the jets game, we woulda lost, cuz he showed up big time like 6-7 times that game.

You guys clearly do not watch the NT position, if yopu thought Soliai was getting beat on 1on1's today. It's sad... I'm no expert, but that was my position in high school so i think I know a little more than you armchair GM's.

80 yards up the MIDDLE WTF!?!?!?!?!
Maroney's yardage mostly came off the edge! he had a few succesful runs up there, but thats cuz you dont have crowder playing too.... stack that with brady, keeping everyone on their heels today, not a real recipe for success..

a thread pointing out Soliai's performance was not needed, it was a bleh game, nothing to cry about like you all are, but nothing to be extremely proud of.

whatever, you'll be praising him next week just like you did last week. this whole site is so week to week and blind it kills me.

I will praise him when he is consistent. Is he a bad player? I don't think so, but I don't think he has really turned into a starting NT in the NFL yet. As I said earlier, he couldn't even press ferguson for the starting job and it isn't like ferg is an elite NT. Most of what I saw for big runs were up the A/B gaps but I don't have the playing on the Tivo right now. I mean crowder was out but we do have other ILB's...

I mean really, do you have a man crush on this guy? Sure sounds like it. Almost like you take it personally.

Let's see what happens the rest of the season.

however, i will defend one of my favorite players..
and Fergy ain't elite, but he's really good, and he's been on 3 parcells teams, and if you ask Sparano who his favorite player is, he'll tell you fergy..
So dont say oh if he cant beat out ferg, than he sucks, cuz now your dissing two NT's, who do the brunt of the dirty work, and to just say they suck, when you dont know ANYTHING about the position, it's just stupid..

Fergy is awesome, and Soliai is a prospect thats been showing up this year, I'm very pleased with his development, and I'm sorry you guys can't enjoy their play as much as I..
Niether are Ngata, Wilfork or Jenkins.. but I'd say Ferg is one of the better NT's in the game.. sad you dont know..
 
Would have been nice to see him get at least one tackle today.
 
I had high hopes for Soliai this year, especially after he got his weight down to 340 this year after weighing like 365 last year. Lets hope he gets better from here on out. He has to because Ferguson may miss a lot more time

I never said either of them sucked so thanks for putting words in my mouth but ferguson isn't top tier. Good player, maybe, but far from great.

This team needs a true 300+ pounder in the middle to anchor that line for years. Personally, I would like a 325+ lb lardass that just has to shift his left or right man titty enough to take on the center and guard but that is just me. Hell fall on them for all I care, just free up the linebackers (if we ever get any that are worth anything) to do their job.
