A lot of teams are going to be interested in Ole Miss tight end Evan Engram, so it’s no surprise that the Dolphins are among those taking a hard look at him.

Miami badly needs a dynamic pass-catching tight end, and Engram would be a smart target in the second round.

He’s excited about that possibility after a few brief talks with Dolphins scouts during Senior Bowl week and is scheduled to meet with the team formally tonight.

“That’s a perfect fit,” he said. “Any team that you ask me about I’m going to say it’s a perfect fit, but their offense is really a good fit.

I’ve always heard that with Jarvis (Landry) there and (DeVante) Parker and (Kenny) Stills out wide, they could use more of a threat in the middle to ease things up on some of them.

That’s where I live, the middle of the field. So I think that’d be a great fit.”

It turns out one member of the organization has already made it clear to Engram that he’s on its radar, though this particular person probably doesn’t have the authority to make personnel decisions.

Left guard Laremy Tunsil, who played with Engram in college and just finished his first season in the NFL, reached out after the season to convey Miami’s interest.

“He’s told me that they want me,” Engram said. “He wants me there too. I think that’d be a good fit. I’d be privileged to play there.”

At 6-foot-3, 236 pounds, Engram is a hybrid tight end like Jimmy Graham, and he was an explosive threat at Ole Miss. He put up 65 receptions, 926 yards and eight touchdown catches his senior year.

He’s currently projected as a second-round pick, which could enable Miami to take a linebacker in the first round and try to get him at No. 54 overall.

Dudes has speed! He is jus a big WR or an HB. A Charles Clay cone.

I'm not looking for a Clay clone or a tweener guy/H-Back type. If we take a TE in the early rounds (1-2) it needs to be a BIG TE, 6'5, a Gronk clone, a player such as OJ Howard 6'6, Bucky Hodges 6'6, Jordan Leggett 6'5. Howard would have to be taken in the first round at 22, and that would not bother me. The other 2 are probable 2nd and 3rd round projections and would gladly take them there as well. This offense took a big step forward, mainly because of Gase and experience of young players, imagine a player such as Howard??? WOW! I know defense needs fixing, but just to enticing to ass that type of player.

agreed...we don't need an h back type...not gonna be the iso red zone threat we need...I like hodges for the isolation aspect of things but va tech did him no favors in getting him ready for the nfl...game looks almost as raw as when he came in to college...but that's a lot of talent and upside and you can probably run some iso with him as a wr in some sets etc...red zone especially I would think he'd be a weapon flexed or split

not much on blocking...lose Kenny stills and promote him as the 3rd wr/flex/split option and I think you are cooking with gas...he's like oj howard in that he projects as a better pro than college player

we already have an H back in Gray don't we? and hes currently the only TE under contract (outside of Duarte)

also I think once bucky hodges test assuming he is legitimately 6 foot 6 or so he may work his way into the top 25...teams love talent with high first round picks...they will overlook production for talent...and he's got tons of it...the red zone iso stuff has to be very intriguing for nfl teams...you can basically throw option route fades and back shoulder and 50/50 balls with him split out or flexed and he can use that body to box out

yeah I'm gonna go ahead and say that hodges will be a fast riser...wont go in front of howard but top 25 very possible...provided he tests like I think he will...position coaches will bet on their ability to clean up the rough edges

only real downside here is will teams view him as a tight end or a wr or a tweener...I'd just say red zone and iso mismatch

and miami needs that...BAD

If It were up to me and Howard and all the LB's are gone, I'd have a tough time not pulling the trigger on Njoku if he was still on the board.

don't be surprised if all of howard, njoku, and hodges go first round

I don't think he'll make it to #22, but man the more I think about O.J. Howard and what he could do for this offense the more I think you've got to pull the trigger if he's there.

You want to believe that, despite the fact that I provided a link saying he's 216.

Regardless; 6'3" is too small for a TE. And so is 236, if he's even close to that.

I'm sorry I didn't see that part. Its a google search for his name am I missing the weight? Maybe I'm blind
