Tony Sparano realizes he can’t waste any time.

Every second is valuable if he’s going to turn around the Dolphins.

So Sparano wants to know what he’s doing every day during the upcoming season, including when he can go for his daily 40-minute jog or grab a few Z’s.

“I know what I’m doing Aug. 2 right now,” Sparano said last week. “That’s important to me. My coaches know right now when we show up July 26, what we’re doing that first day of training camp. That’s important.

“I have a pretty good idea of when I can sleep.”

The devil is always in the details. The more I read about TS, the more confident I become that he's the right man for the job now and into the future.

Detailed preparation never grows old:

Time will tell, but after the last three joke HC's we've had, I'm not holding my breath.

“These guys are starting to understand you can win and lose predicated on the details, the little things.”
This emphasizes even more why Parcells hired coaches known for their teaching skills. Not only do the coaches need to put players in position to make plays, they also need to teach the players what to do once they get in position to make those plays.

I agree, but I just get a different, more genuine, feeling about these guys as opposed to the guys we've had here in the past.
Maybe I'm just seriously dreaming from being deprived of good coaches for so many years, but these guys seem to be not only saying, but doing the right things in a way we've never seen before.

I think our time is do.

I'll keep my excited under control after the last couple of HC's. I had this same feeling with Saban only to be under whelmed. I like Parcels track record but will wait until I see the results in wins before I scream from the roof tops.

Ya know I started to type that word, then I thought about it and that's the word I would have used early into Cam Cameron's run here in Miami last year. After the disaster that turned out to be, I was not going there. I think us fans only see just the surface of what we will later learn to be the truth, so for the time being, I'll reserve my judgment till TS proves something.

But don't let me hold anyone back, feel free to have all the faith you want. I'm just tired of thinking this year will be a better year, I'll just wait and see where this goes with zero expectations.

i was excited about saban(more so just because we got rid of wanny) but when i heard cam was hired i didnt think it was a good hiring. rebuilding teams dont need a first time nfl coach. but i am excited that we have a guy who actually knows what he's doing and has a proven track record.

I was really excited about Saban. Everyone was saying how he was right there with Belichick. I really do think Saban was a good coach though. He's just a horrible person.

“It’s the third time I’ve called (media relations director) Harvey (Greene) down and gone over my schedule for in season,”

I too will try to keep an open and objective mind, with every intent to let results speak for themselves. But as one who generally prides himself in doing just that, these Forums have a remarkable tendancy of snowballing hype, in ways that often defy any measured reason, and balanced rationale.

I will say, that while its too early to tell if this regime will be any different than those prior, I can't recall any of the other coaches ever calling up Harvey Greene of all people, as someone who imposed any influence with the schedule, or for that matter, much of any thought period. :err:

I agree with the people that are taking a wait and see approach, Sparano has proven nothing as a coach at this point.

Very true. However, I feel much more comfortable this year with Sparano then I did last year with Cameron. The main reason is because Sparano has Parcells looking over his shoulder and helping him out when things will get rough. Cameron was way in over his head and didn't know what to do at times. Hopefully with Parcells around, that won't happen to Tony.

You may have a point but that also worries me that maybe Sparano is not prepared to be a head coach if he needs Parcells over his shoulder. I hope for the rest regardless.

I agree, we'll see how it translates.

That is a very good point. Would Sparano really got a NFL head coaching job this soon if he wasn't connected to Parcells? I guess we won't ever really know.

I know New Haven is not the biggest of football schools, but at least Sparano walks into this job having had some(if not much) head coaching experiance. Of course you could use the argument that Cameron also had prior head coaching experiance.

I hope Sparano works out, I really do. I do like the fact that they compare him with Parcells that he will be working late at Dolphins camp and will always come out prepared. I remember Cameron skipping I believe the Senior Bowl because he had a trip to Europe planned years in advance. Um, wouldn't you think you would post-pone a trip like that until June/July and attend some of the most important offseason activites as a new head coach?

Sparano is raw no doubt, but I do think he has the qualities to be a good head coach in this league. He may have got his head coaching gig a year or two earlier then deserved, but I think he will do fine. Then again, Sean Payton took over the Saints when he was in the same exact position as Sparano(position coach/assistant head coach will the Cowboys). Both are Parcells' prodigies, but Payton went into his situation with Parcells helping him out. We can all remember he did very well year one with the Saints.

I honestly see this working out. Of course I will remain a bit cautious, but I think he have built a good front office and put together a nice coaching staff.
