PBP: Campbell Eager for Permanent Coaching Gig

I know the answer will be determined by his record and how the team actually plays. The decision will actually be easy one way or the other.

However, I cannot help, but pull strong for Dan Campbell. I appreciate the fact that he says "yeah, I want the job". He did not hedge. "He did not say we just focused on this week" or "it is up to Mr. Ross"

He has such a tough job between trying to change the culture, he has nobody on staff that was his pick and the loss of Wake and James just to name a few.

Usually, interims do not make it. Maybe he can break the mold.

Just win! If he can get this team at this stage to a minimum of 7-9. I would give it to him..

Me too. That means he went .500 with all the adversity that we discussed. I think that would be unreal work. Allow him to get a staff of his own and fix the damn line. I bet he would fix the Oline once and for all if he had a chance. lol.

There are some nice candidates that I think would do great in Miami next year if Campbell does not work. However, I just personally like Campbell because he has looked adversity in the face and is taking it straight on. I can respect that.

If we screw this up it will be Todd Bowles-Esque. I can see it now. We sign Mangini. Campbell coaches elsewhere...has Cowher like sucess. Because...Dolphins.

Peter King was on WEEI radio in Boston leading up to the Pats game last week. He said something interesting. In his conversations with Mike Tannenbaum, Tannenbaum felt when he hired Rex Ryan in NY that it was a "chalk pick". He thinks there is talented coaches in different areas of the game. It is not just the "hot coordinator".

I think Campbell shows something through December and it does not have to be playoffs, he could get this job.

Again, the results will be on the field.

Here is good measuring stick: see if they compete better than Week 3 @ Buffalo this weekend.

Long way to go this season. I'm rooting for Dan Campbell, but there is a lot of football left to be played so I'm going to reserve judgment until later in the season.

Houston/Tennessee games were fun to watch....but we failed to compete against the Pats. Lets see what happens the rest of the way.

Unfortunately I think it's going to take at least a winning record, and wins by a large margin

BTW - can Tracy Wolfson have that mountain on the side of her face removed? Or take a page out of Buck Russel's book... It's the only thing i see when she talks

I know I'm rooting for him. He brings the fire this team has lacked since.. . ..well since Jacksonville dropped 62 on us and sent dan and JJ into retirement.

I think Ross has a man-crush on him(cuz that is what he does) and the job is his

So far the guy's 2-1.
A lot of better HC's than Campbell have worse records in any 3 game stretch.

Buffalo is gonna be a great measuring stick, as Hayden and others have mentioned. Tough team any week, coming off a loss, a win, whatever. We'll see what he's got.

What ever the RIGHT thing to do is... You can bet Ross will go the other way...

If Campbell goes 8-4 I think that's the magic number for him to get the job. 7-5 might do it. But that means this team goes 8-8

I'm definitely rooting for DC. He's young and hungry and shows the spirit of someone who wants to be in charge. He doesn't look like he's scared to take on any task.
