Ryan Tannehill had all the time in the world to think. And so it was then, he concluded, that he really liked his place in the world.

The day after Tannehill stepped on an NFL football field and played a game for the first time in 606 days, he took the time to finally talk about it all. With the aid of surgery, a torn ligament in his knee had been properly healed.

And with a preseason game complete, it had been tested. Tannehill seemed at ease. He seemed at peace. He seemed reflective.

Good stuff as usual from Joe Schad, a very welcome addition to the fins beat in recent years imo

Personally I think Ryan is going to have the best season of his carrer, assuming he stays healthy. Though much like 2016 it may take a few weeks for everything to click, its a very different group of players than he played with in 2016

Healthy, and in his second/third year with a coach who has set him up to succeed rather than fail.

He should have the best year of his career. Maybe this year will finally end the debate; the fact that there's still such a divide about whether or not he's a good enough QB six years after he was drafted is insane.

From the interviews I have seen with him it seems like he has a new level of confidence and is taking ownership of the offense. I can see good things in store for the offense.

Everyone is concerned about his injury history but you don't hear the same level of concern about Luck, Wentz, Watson, etc. either here or in the national media. And RT's injury was not nearly as bad as Wentz's or Luck's. I don't get it but I guess with a lot of people predicting fewer wins than last year it is to be expected since they need some negative to back up their opinion/prediction.

Ive no doubt that he has matured, become more vocal etc but much more importantly than that?

In gase's system in 2016, for around a 6 game stretch of consecutive games I thought he was playing at or close to a pro bowl level. If he gets back to that level our O will be in a good spot (though our D would still scare me)

I think we will find when the offense finally takes that next step the defense will as well. IMO in the past the defense has held up better than it has been credit for and has been put under tremendous strain especially considering how little the offense scores in the first half. No points, no hope, no chance.

Articles like that make me giddy. I'd love it if he came out balling - obviously, given I'm a Miami fan. But I'd love it for him, he's taken a pounding back there, been a tough dude. Would be delighted for him to come out firing, after all the bad press, the doubts even from his own fan base (me guilty of it too). Really, really rooting for the guy.

As long as he stays healthy, he BETTER have the best season of his career. Anything less would make me want to move on from him. He has a competent O-line and multiple weapons receiving and rushing. He has a coach who supports him and continuity with the offensive system. There's really no excuse to have anything less than the best season of his career.

All depends on the OL.

Couldn't agree more. If they stay healthy and gel we can control the clock. Win the time of possession battle, keep the D fresh and off the field and we should be in every game we play.

To me it's a lot of the same energy and confidence we've had and seen before, though previously it was deflated by injury.

In all respects he should have the best year of his career, and he needs to. I don't think we can afford a few weeks for our offense to "start clicking" either unless we can win those early games with defensive performances. Our schedule needs to be taken advantage of early.

Sitting around 6-6 headed into the last tail of the season will not cut it. It gets too tough with this year's schedule and that pressure has not served us well before.

I want to see a new era of performance from this team with all the pieces finally in place.

The defense has been like a colander from the first snap of the game to last snap of the game.
Holes everywhere.

He's right though, lets give them some points and see how they make out. They never get points to work with but often give up a score after we get one.

We need to get points on the board and much earlier on in games as the defense is a big concern.

Read a bull crap article about our defense being ranked 16th in yards last year without even mentioning in points conceded they were 29th with awful redzone stats.

Don't think we'll be stopping anyone without a few timely turnovers.

Ol still scares me until I see otherwise. I hope we have improved. I think the OL and Lb positions will make or break Gase.
