The Miami Dolphins are hoping wide receiver DeVante Parker (back) can play but they are preparing to play without him.

If Parker, who did not practice Wednesday, is able to play Sunday at Baltimore, it could be a last hour clearance and it would be considered a “bonus” according to offensive coordinator Clyde Christensen.

The promotion of Rashawn Scott from the practice squad to the active roster was the first sign that Parker’s availablility was in serious doubt.

Here is some more of what Christensen said Thursday:

• Ryan Tannehill has protected the football. Hasn’t put the defense in a poor position.

• Miami expects defenses to try to load up to stop the run moving forward. People still want to stop Jay Ajayi first.

• It’s Miami’s ninth top five defense. I thought there were only five top five defenses.

Sam Young played pretty darn good. He functioned efficiently. He drew some tough guys. It wasn’t a negative factor. He wasn’t a huge factor in the game positive or negative.

• Center Anthony Steen has improved. Tough situation on the road against a tough opponent this week.

There are no rookies anymore. Laremy Tunsil, Kenyan Drake, Leonte Carroo and Jakeem Grant need to be a factor down the stretch.

IMO with the same personnel, injury challenges and what not, if Philbin and his staff were coaching the team, we'd have been lucky to win 4 games at this point.

What a breath of fresh air Gase, VJ, ..... and Christiansen who knows a little something about coaching outstanding QBs, have been!
