Penguins to stay in Pittsburgh!

Good news, that's where they belong. Eventhough I would have liked to see them or any NHL team move back to Connecticut I miss the Whalers eventhough I was never a fan of the team.

this is what i dont get....original plan they couldnt agree on was 290 mill...this one exceeds that...wtf was the problem

problem was ... who was going to pay for it?

The original plan was for the "Isle of Capri" to pick up the tab. Isle of Capri was a proposed video gambling parlor - they offered to pay for the arena if they received the license (only 1 Pa. license available for the Pitt. area) The state gaming commission opted to give the licence to another outfit ... thus, it appeared the Pens (whose lease at the falling-apart Mellon Arena expires at season's end) were headed elsewhere.

Although I think the original plan called for a $300 million arena ($290/$300 mil what's the difference  )

as an embarrassed flyers fan who's sits with an abysmal feeling after losing EIGHT games to the Pens this year all i can say is......

WOO MORE VICTORIES!

Actually no, the Pens obviously have finally been able to put a solid team together on the ice again, within a salary cap meaning they should contend for years to come with their mix of youth with potential greatness and solid vets. The Flyers may have owned them before, but the tides may have now turned.
