Penn state, LB, Maybin?

he just declared, is he any good? His highlights looked good. Info please.
I'm not sure what to exactly think about him. He's a great football player, but I thought he should have stayed an extra year to get bigger. He might be able to OLB in the 3-4 though. Very fast and can find his way to the QB.

very very talented and a passionate football player but is very very small. As a pass rusher, he is ready to play because he's got the moves to be a speed rusher in a 4-3. HOWEVER, he is nowhere near ready for the 3-4 right now.

He might be able to contribute more than Vernon Gholston did this year because Maybin has the sheer speed to be a 3rd down rusher, but also has some moves, but he's still way too raw to be an everydown guy.

Maybin while VERY talented, is pretty raw for the 3-4 defense. He's going to at least need a year to bulk up and get stronger. If he was available in the third round (which I seriously doubt) then I would take a shot on him.

3rd round? he is there with our 2nd i would take him. his potential is tremendous and yes he needs to get bigger, but that doesnt mean he cant make an impact right away

yeah, you would definitely have to snap him up in round 2

Maybin will probably not last till our first round pick let a lone be a 2nd rounder.

I think you and I could have contributed more than Vernon Gholston did last year.

to be fair to him, he probably would've been atleast mediocre as a 4-3 DE because there is less thinking. Gholston doesn't have any pass rushing moves and the only reason people thought he was a top pick was because he dominated against Michigan (where he only beat Jake once, beating a RS freshmen Steve Schilling the rest of the game). GHolston also was a workout warrior (like Maybin will be) but Gholston also is an avid bodybuilder, almost obsessed with getting muscular.

Maybin is a more committed football player than Gholston ever will be, but he's smaller. Biggest difference is Maybin also developed a lot of moves this past year when Evans got suspended to go along with his speed so he can atleast be a 3rd down rusher wherever he goes.

definitely possible. but if he were there with our first 2nd round pick, you have to take him. i dont think i would take him with our first.

He's not ready... He would play linebacker in our system and he has NO experience dropping into coverage.

unless we pick sintim the LB we pick will have NO experience dropping into coverage. most 3-4 OLBs are former DEs who have NO experience with coverage either.

if Matt Roth can drop into coverage then why couldn't a better athlete?
