In his first interview since being released by the New York Jets, quarterback Chad Pennington said he's not upset with the New York Jets yada, yada, yada.
And in the comments that matter to Dolphins fans, he says he has several teams he is talking with through his agent. And he wants to START. That would pretty much eliminate teams like the Patriots, Giants, Colts and any other team with a solid situation at QB. It does not, on the other hand, eliminate a team like the Dolphins or Kansas City.
"I'm extremely encouraged about it," Pennington said of his new chances elsewhere. "It makes me feel good. I know I'm a good quarterback and I can play this game and can start and help a team win."
As has become their policy, the Dolphins have asked Tom Condon, the agent who represents Pennington, to not speak with the media. (That way they can deny everything if something goes wrong). Pennington is taking that request to heart and not discussing his possible landing spots.
"I certainly don't want to compromise my position and the things that are going on," Pennington said. "I'm glad to have a few teams interested and I'm excited about that."

This should also elimanate the Vikings and Chiefs who both are supporting their young QBs. Herm and Childress have been real loyal to Croyle & Jackson. In fact if he were brought in to the Chiefs or Vikings they would more then likely as a backup with a chance to compete. If he comes to us he immediately is the starter regardless of what they say. The Chiefs have said they expect Penington to sign with Miami. The Vikings and Bears are not commitin. The Packers, New England & The G-Men want him as a backup, they are eliminated. The only two teams I think could be a little interested is the Falcons, they wont give Pennington a better contract then what we can give him with what they have invested in Ryan and the Ravens. Detroit has Kitna as there starter. The Bucs have Garcia as their Starter. Jacksonville was also interested, he wont be a starter there. Miami is Chad destination and I agree with what Jon Clayton said abou tu s being the frontrunners.

On a side note: Armando Salguero is an idiot, he says that Peningto's best chance is to go to a contender. How is Penington's best chance is to go to a contender when he can come to Miami and instanly be an upgrade over what we Miami has at QB. Do your research Armando Penington has a home in Florida. Jason Ferguson & Sean Ryan have both played with Penington and Ferguson is reallly close to Penington. That alone is to more reasons why he is gonna want to sign with Miami

Well, if Pennington wants to start, this is the best place to make that happen.

Coming here would immediately become a starter. A place like KC or the Vikings he walks in the same situation he just left try to beat a younger inexperienced QB that the club wants to see succedd and will probably start regardless. In Miami he gets a clean state and a fresh start as starting QB. He has atleast a year or two before he has to go back to trying to beat out a rookie unless he ****s the bed.

I think that we had plans of trading for Chad but knew that the jets would never trade him in the division, well, we can get him for nothing, I believe Parcells has his guys ready to sign him but will give Coach Sparano no distractions for the Tampa game, it will be done after the game is played and the coach gives his evaluation, which i think the signing will occur Monday.

thats kind of freaky because i was JUST reading in another thread about a one of his quotes that starting was not one of his requirements.

Go figure

I can't imagine anyone going to a team to be a backup when they know they will start for another team.

i saw on one of those quicky blurbs on nfl network earlier
that said the GIANTS are now showing interest in chad.

i dont see that one. the ONLY time he would play is if
manning gets hurt. so he wont play much, if at all!!

now, if he is thinking hey! i'll ride the bench, collect a
few mill and and have an easy cruise to a superbowl
ring, then the giants would be his spot.

i am sure the dolphins would have him come in and
start right away, and if that is what he wants, there it
is. plus, the fins have PLENTY of cap room to pay his
salary, so.... theres the money!

croyle is looking REAL good so far so i dont see the queefs
handing him the starting job.

if he hasnt made a visit by tuesday or talked ANY contract
with the finz, i doubt he is coming.
