Pennington opts for surgery.

That stinks! I have had 2 shoulder surgeries myself it is no fun!

He's done. It's a shame he has to go out this way.

Knowing how Chad's been such a warrior, if he ends up retiring here, he will truly be missed. I can't say that he's done without seeing it myself. He's come back after so much. If this happens to be the end, God will bless him as he has so many times before. Thank you for everything Chad Pennington.

Meh, it was probably a blessing in disguise. It was just a matter of time before the hate he was getting on these boards turned into boos at the games and that would have been a real tragedy.

I don't want to call it a blessing in disguise but but I do agree that the hate he was getting from this (these) boards was getting out of hand and I think was unwarranted. Was just going to get worse.

I don't think he will be done unless everytime he throws a ball its pain. He is in love with football and i think he will try and make a comeback. And i hope he comes back next year and starts for us. He is a true football player and he would play for free. Thats a winner in my eyes..

Good Luck Chad. Thanks for the remarkable turnaround last season, youre a true football warrior and I wish you the best of luck with any and all of your future endeavors.

I don't recall ever seeing one player have so much effect on one team in one year of playing for them.

Very True

I don't recall ever seeing one player have so much effect on one team in one year of playing for them.

I agree. And the effect will be a lasting one. He demonstrated to the entire team that through hard work, positive attitude, attention to details, team first attitude, and professionalism you can overcome physical limitations and be a much better team than the individual parts would indicate.
Those lessons should carry on even without Penny. The Fins believe they are a few bad plays from being 2-1 instead of 0-3 and they can turn this season around. I think they will starting with the Bills this week.

Thanks Chad Pennington for such a wonderful year. You are a class act!

I guarantee you that if Chad wants to rehab and come back he will make it. The guy has an amazing will to succeed. The rub is that he doesn't have a team to come back to this time around and could possibly go through all the rehab for nothing if no one picks him up. The Phins could throw him a bone and give him a shot next summer, but with Henne and now Thigpen that may be highly unlikely.

I like Penny...but you have to know when it's time to give it up...well after three surgeries...it's time. He should go into coaching...it won't cost an arm...or a leg....and he seems to have the qualities to be able to teach. I just hope the FO will give him the chance in the future.

Or start training that left arm because Im sure the right one is shot by now.

Wish him the best, Chad Pennington's short-lived Miami career will not be forgotten and I thank him for all he has contributed. 11-5 AFC East Champions, one of the most remarkable feats in the history of the NFL coming off a 1-15 season, he truly was the most important factor in making that happen in my opinion. Comeback Player Of The Year (2nd for MVP I believe, hell deserved it for what he and our team had done). Despite 0-3, I still felt we were a lot better than we've looked (and people have perceived) with Pennington starting, could easily be 2-1 but things didn't go our way and we're 0-3 with a very difficult schedule. I mean who would have ever thought we'd do what we did with our offense against IND, and who thought we'd be capable of 94 yard drive in our first series against SD. Despite the setback, I think this team is heading in the right direction. Thank you for making my year last season Chad, hopefully we have another Chad to take over and be the future of this team. It's definitely a work in progress but I can't wait to see what's in store. If you can endure a 1-15 season, you can endure anything. Best Phins QB since Marino, hands down. Thanks for the memories, it's unfortunate they couldn't continue this year.
