In his first public comments since the Jets released him, quarterback Chad Pennington confirmed the Dolphins are interested in him.
Interested enough that Bill Parcells reportedly picked up the phone and called Pennington.
It’s only a guess, but Parcells doesn’t just pick up the phone and call just any free agent. Then again, Parcells, the Jets GM when Pennington was a rookie in 2000, also didn’t draft everyone the Dolphins sign.
Speaking on a conference call with New York media, Pennington said he’s pleased by the interest around the league and is weighing his options.
ESPN reported Thursday that six teams inquired about Pennington, including the Dolphins. But reports have said the Bears, Vikings and Chiefs - all teams with dicey quarterback situations - are not really interested.
Pennington said his decision might not necessarily come down to whether he would be the starter. Translation: he could sign with New England.

Interesting stuff. I think the Dolphins are being real aggressive with pennington and cause of that alone Miami will sign him. Personally I think the hold up is contract discussions and see if the prize rises with more teams interested.

What is the status of his injury?
I heard Jamie Dukes yesterday on NFLTA and he said something about Pennington not being able to make all throws.
Is there some truth in that statement?

The Patriots do nned a backup, but I dont see Penington going there. He wants to start the guy took a change of life just to start this year. I think he will sign here because he has the best chance to start.

Because it's from Jamie Dukes, probably not. But it's no secret that Chad Pennington has had problems with his rotator cuff and lost a lot of the limited throwing power he once had. Perhaps Dukes means he cant throw a deep ball.

The is a thread entitled " Penington's Health " read it. Peningtons has worked all offseason in making himself better. He has taken a similiar approach to himself like the RIcky took. He watches what he eats, sleeps early and is training with a strength coach. He has been trainning to make his arm stronger and his throws. Penington is gonna be a surprise for whoever signs him.

LOl, I mean he is dieting and taking all the steps to live a super healthy life style.

Does New England even need a backup? :foundout:

NE ran it up on a lot of teams last year. Someone this year will get payback and give Brady a cheap shot. Just a matter of time

I sure hope so! Brady has never had a serious injury if he goes down the pats go down. 9-7 without Brady id say.
