I have to say, Chad Pennington is probably my favorite NFL player of all time, not because he was ever great but, he has the most courage and heart in the world. Having said that, I can NOT see this man ever wearing a Miami Dolphins jersey again. I think if he had his way he would come back to play for the Fins, even as a back up, but guys, Henne is here, they aren't turning back and with Thigpen right behind him, I just can't see it. I think Pennington will definitely do everything he can to at the very least back up somewhere. I mentioned in another thread I thought it may very well be back in NY with the Jets. I can't see him going to the west coast, primarily because of his family. There will be other job opportunities for him, possibly St. Louis, Cleveland, Buffalo, Minnesota, Washington, even Tennessee or NY as a backup. If he wanted to do west coast there is SF and Oakland (though I can't see that). I can't say that I can add Miami here. He was amazing for the Dolphins, he's strong, he gives everything a good fight, and will prevail and play again because that is the type of person Chad is, but he's done in Miami.

He had a great part of this team's modern history. I'll always love him as the gu that showed Maimi what a QB is supposed to be. I think he'll make a great backup or coach. He's smart, leadership oriented, and, a winner.

It's time for him to not be a QB any more though. Time for him to transition. There is no shame in it.

I hated him when he was with the Jets, (old noodle arm owned our *****), and instantly loved him while he was here. Would have loved to see him win a ring, too bad his career will most likely end this way. Then again with all of the inept QB play in the NFL it really wouldn't surprise me to see old Chad back for another team next year.

How can a 10year NYJ vet be your favorite of all time?

Sorry but Marino is my favorite of all time, because he was great, he was a leader, he too had amazing courage and heart. Sorry but Penny may have done good for MIA in 19 reg season games, but that is the extent of his record and accomplishments in a fin uniform.

Marino is the greatest Dolphin imo of ALL TIME and is my favorite of all time.

I don't feel his career is over just yet. I've heard him talk a few times, and he has goals to try and get back to playing. After hearing him say that there was no muscle damage or anything of that nature, I believe he will be back. I couldn't agree with you more about seeing him win a ring. I don't think it will happen, but I think that unless he retires for other reasons, this injury will not stop him from playing again.

I think it's time for him to hang it up. That arm can't possibly have anything left in it, he's had a nice career. No shame in hanging it up.

It isn't so much about the playing, I've watched him play through college, was at those games, was a part of that school, and grew up and followed his career. I am a fan of both the Dolphins and Chad Pennington, and when he came to this team, I was ecstatic, because it was a dream come true. Unfortunately that has to end for me, but IMO for him the NFL part of his dream isn't over, but the Miami part has ended for both of us.

I had a post mentioning Pennington and had offere Oakland as a possible starting job, I understand Davis is in love with the big strong armed QB but the irony of it all is some of his best teams won with smart older qbs( Plunkett, Gannon), I can see washington being a spot as well.

Ofcourse this may all be a non factor if he retires.

I guess it wouldn't be the worst place, not the best obviously.

Those qb's had decent arms, Penny at this time is not even close to having a decent arm anymore. When teams can scheme you because of your lack of arm strength it hurts the whole offense. I thought people learned that this year when he was still playing.

Well with this said I can respect that. Just never understood the love fest with the guy. But if your alumni and went to those games, it is what it is. I wouldn't begrudge you or anyone for that.

But watching him during his collegiate years and the first 3 games of this year, couldn't you tell his arm was gradually getting worse?

I get that.

We've just got to move on.

Players play. Teams go on. That's the whole process of legacy.

Pennington showed us what a QB was. We had forgotten.

Henne is not Penny, but, he's learned a lot form him, I think, and, he's just going his own way. I think Pennington is going to be a great coach one day if he wants.

No, watching him post surgery years when he had the rotator cuff surgery, then I saw him at his worst, since then he's picked up some. He never got back to being where he was but, he always used his brain to work around what he couldn't physically do to win. I can't see it being any different now then it was for him then. He went through all of the rehab that time too. He didn't do it for nothing and everyone doubted him then. I even did it at that time, but this injury was a lot less severe, it was a lot less of a rehabbing process, and Chad set out a goal to get back to tossing on this day, Jan 1st, was what I heard him say. He has said in interviews that he would know by March what he was going to do, but the goal was to be able to work out for a team if one called, and I believe that is going to be what happens if the opportunity represents itself.

I understand that, perhaps more than you, but some times teams compromise a QB's weakness for his strengths such as leadership, intelligence and winning attitude all things Pennington brings to the table.

Ofcourse Pennington came into the league with a rep for not having the strongest arm time and injury have taken a toll on him but for the same reason miami grabbed him last year any team in need of stability and leadership at the QB pos. should look long and hard at the guy.
