So, Who would you rather have leading your team?

Jay Cutler, a guy that can throw the ball 100 yards, but is hot headed, impetuous and prone to make a reckless decisions. (a la Jeff George) But a guy who you believe with the right QB coach and mentor might turn your team into a perennial Super Bowl contender.

OR

Chad Pennington, a guy with not the strongest arm, but highly accurate, rarely makes dumb decisions, great mentor and a "Team Guy", that can lead you to the promised land with a great defense.

Me, if I'm at the game eating my $7 hot dog & $10 beer, the LAST thing I want to see is a multi-million dollar crybaby leading my team - regardless of whether or not he can throw the ball to Pluto.

I like Chad Pennington. He's been all about team. You never see him melt down emotionally. He had a bad day in the playoffs against the Ravens defense last year; but so did a lot of teams. I believe Chad is a very intelligent guy (e.g. Phil Simms); and you know what Parcells did with him.

Seems like so may posters on here want any other QB in the NFL, Arena League, or stock brokerage than the one we have. Everyone loves the 3rd string QB & wants to name their kids after him, talking about what a "Breakout game he had in the 4th quarter of the 4th preseason game, citing his YPA, rating etc.

How about this for something new: Let's look for the positive in what we HAVE, instead of wishing we had the other guy. Remember Daunte Culpepper?

Your thoughts?

I would take Cutler any day of the week and twice on Sunday! Pennington is what is best for our team now because he is on it. I want Chad Henne to sit as long as possible and learn. So when he hits the field his learning curve is much smaller. Make no mistake there will be a learning curve and he will make mistakes.

This is such a tough question to answer. As a fan i would undoubtly want Cutler cause of the flashy plays and big numbers, but if you look at the end of the day which QB had a better record and went to the playoffs? Pennington is a solid player and when he was with the Jets I hated him cause he could always beat us.

If I were a coach in the NFL right now, I take Chad. Cutler still has some maturing to do and still throws a lot of INTs and is still undisciplined. Bo doubt Cutler has the potential be becoma elite, he is not yet and may never be. So for that fact alone, I would take Chad, becaue on almost any team, he has a better chance to get the W. Better than Cutler anyway. At least that is my opinion.

For years now i have thought Chad was better then 1/2 the starting QB's in the nfl but him coming here last and playing at a Pro Bowl level and seeing 1st hand how much he really means to a team.......i think and know he's better then what i thought from a far.

If Jay was our QB last year i don't think we'd have won more then 7 games.Chad knows what he can and can't do in the nfl Jay may never figure it out.

Are you joking?

I love Penny but this question is ridiculous. Cutler is arguably THE best young QB in the NFL. I know his reputation has been tarnished b/c he got pissed about dumb Josh McDaniels wanting to trade him but, c'mon, talent-wise, he is as good as any QB in the game and still improving.

McDaniels will be fired within two years.

Cutler will have a great career.

Cutler is not Jeff George all of the sudden just b/c he didn't like Josh McDaniels.

Did you watch any DEN games last year? B/c I watched every single one (Cutler and Marshall were on my fantasy team) and Cutler is a GREAT QB. DEN's defense was HORRIBLE. If he was our QB last year with as solid as our defense was, there's no reason to think he couldn't have won as many games as Penny did. There's no logic behind saying we would've gone 7-9 with Cutler instead of Penny. I love Penny but you just have no logical basis for that statement.

BTW, Cutler was something like 13-1 in games where DEN's defense held opponents below 30 points. Again, that DEN defense might have been the absolute worst in the NFL last year (or at least tied with DET).

Chad Pennington any day of the week. Buddy of mine is a diehard Denver fan, so watched a bunch of their games. Cutler lost games for them. This season when we played them Cutler's first 3 passes were: incomplete, pick(field goal), pick returned for touchdown. With an amazing receiving core around him(Marshall, Royal, and Stokley) the guy still couldnt get the job done. Recall the Broncos only needed 1 win to beat out the chargers for the division late in the season(chargers were 5-8, broncos 8-5) and they lost the last 3 games.
With great physical gifts coupled with poor decision making he is quickly becoming the new Brett Favre, and with the Bears lackluster wideouts and questionable Offensive line its going to be brought out in the open how poor this guy really is.

Off the field his comparision to Favre continues. He received a great amount of special treatment from Mike Shanahan so when he didnt get his way he felt it was his right to whine or complain. With the media, after a loss, he would throw teamates and coaches under the bus(usually Marshall). He had a dream situation in denver: Pro bowl wideout, amazing slot receiver, a rookie wideout that was in the running for rookie of the year, and one of the best offensive lines in football. What did he do?
He rebelled against McDaniels from the minute the guy got on board, and had a hissy fit when McDaniels told him he was going to do what he felt was best for the team. When McDaniels tried to calm him down, coddle him, Cutler continued his temper tantrum into the owner got pissed.

Pennington(and everyone else) on this team knows their job is for sale. They know Sparano is going to do whatever he feels gives them the best chance to win, and no one is more important than the team. Cutler feels(like Favre) he shouldnt have to work for something and things should be handed to him. I'll take accuracy, leadership, and hard work over interceptions and whinning any sunday.

1.) Your Broncos-homer friend is just trashing Cutler b/c Cutler left for CHI.

2.) As you said, you're basing your opinion on what your friend said instead of having watched him all season yourself as I did. Cutler is an elite talent. DEN lost games b/c of their defense.

Pennington is the type of QB that can get you to the playoffs. Cutler is the type of QB that can get you to the Super Bowl.

My logical is that Penny has been the better Pro so far.

Just look at their stats, end of story ......then look at what Chad does as a team leader.

Also, when i look at Chad i see a man, when i look at Jay and what he's all about i see a kid.

Jay could of made that City, that team , that state his.........but he ran away.Chad would of never done that.End thread.

maybe the question should be Cutler versus Henne and Pennington.
Pennington has done great but long term its no contest that Cutler would be the better choice. In fact we could have drafted other starters at round 2 instead of the carousel of qb;s we have done.

sorry, i didnt put "I" watched a bunch of games. I never once said i have my opinion because of him, just brought him up because he is someone i watch football games with. Let me clear that up: I watched Denver games.

No, my Broncos homer friend trashed Cutler because he replaced Jake Plummer, who wasnt the best QB(or person in general) but his teamates knew he would ride and die for them. Very much like Pennington is for this team.

Denver did have a horrible defense. Champ Bailey being out for chunks of games at a time was bad, and the only players worth a damn on it were Elvis Dumervil and D.J Williams(whom they move around more than Jason Allen). That being said Cutler's pick happy decisions made that defense run out there, and as i said about the game against us: Cutler dug them into a hole before Denver's Defense even had a chance. It would be easy to point out the defense and excuse Cutler of all blame, but when the team needed him he just couldnt get it done. Another example? Second game of the year Broncos are down with little time left on the cloak, ball is in the red zone, what does Cutler do? Fumble. He got EXTREMELY lucky that the ref(Hoc) screwed up the call.

As well, on your previous comment about Cutler being "argueable" the best young QB in the league i completely disagree. I would take Aaron Rodgers or Phillip Rivers over Cutler in a heartbeat...not to even bring up Eli Manning, Big Ben, or Matt Ryan who, save for Rodgers, have all had much more success than Cutler.

Cutler has elite talent...He also has the mentality and patience of a 6 year old told he couldnt have ice cream

I agree Cutler is the best young QB in the NFL, but in the NFL talent does not rule all. This league is so fascinating that a player can have all the talent, ability, and size for this game, but can still be a bust. I am bu no means saying Cutler is a bust. I am just pinting out that talent is not everything in the NFL.

Guys like Pennington are the kind of guys who never had all the ability in the NFL. He is hardly athletic and does not have a rocket arm, but he has everything that makes the QB position so vital. He has accuracy, leadership, desire, and a will to win.

Cutler may turn out to be a Hall of Famer right now, but he has a long way to go before he is even considered All-Pro. If he ever gets better at the intagibles, then watch out. But as of right now he is just a strong arm QB, kinda like a Brett Favre clone.
