Ok, I keep seeing that The crucial playcall on 3rd and 6 at the end of the game was Pennington's decision and he chose to check down to a run therefore it was Penningtons fault for not wanting the ball in his hands. Well if this is the case then Pennington is partly to blame because YES he is the leader of the offense and SHOULD want the ball in his hands to make a crucial play towards the end of the game but this stupid call still goes on the coaches IMO. In a tied game on 3rd and 6 you do NOT give the QB the option of what to do, you pick what you think your best damn pass play is and tell him to go execute it. A running play shouldn't have been an option at all in that situation. I could understand it if it was earlier in the game but come on.... give me a freakin break.

Well Im not to sure, Ronnie was averging over 5 ypc and the Defense is thinking Pass. If we make the 1st down, no one mentions this at all!!!!
Everyone says RONNIES a BEAST!!!

get over it bro... We were tearing it up with the run. When pennington calls a run on 3rd and 6 hes a p***y... when brady/manning/brees call a draw on 3rd and 6, there geniuses! such BS

Yeah, they are geniuses.

Because on 3rd and 6 with Brees/Manning/Brady the defense has to play deep because of the threat those three quarterbacks possess.

A draw would not have been called by Brees or Manning in that situation. Ronnie Was averaging 5 yards per carry sure, but they needed 6 for a first down. The ball should have been put in the air, I really don't even see how anyone can disagree with that.

Pennington never should have been given the option to run. If you look at the play on tape you see that the Colts had a 9 man front. Pennington is the most accurate passer in the history of the NFL. But he always takes the safe route.

We could of made the FG without the extra 3 yards.

We had this "debate" a few years ago about Culpepper and Harrington never throwing long when Mularkey was our OC. My policy was that the coach is the coach of the team and the QB is a player on the team. If the coach TELLS the QB to throw long he had better throw long no matter what. So Mularkey was not telling our QBs to long downfield.

For instance you cannot tell if a WR is going to be open streaking down the sidelines, you have to trust that he is and in your arm.

That is why I wish we had kept Gus Ferotte another year, he had the guts to throw downfield and he was told to do so by Sccot Linehan. After that season they both admitted that they did not think that they had a good chance of completing many of them but it kept the defense honest and on their back peddle.

The next year we drafted for Culpopper and Harrington and went to crap.

IMO Pennington is being allowed to make too many calls on his own. The one long pass to Ginn early last year was about the only time I can think of when he just said that he was going for it. And it was a called play.

Pennington has done a lot for this team, but how anyone can defend his audible to a run in that situation is seriously beyond me. I don't care if we were averaging 30 yards per carry. Horrible call period!

Penny didn't call a draw, he called a dive. Big difference. But you genius didn't see that play at all did you.

Manning made the choice to attack a blitzing DEF, not with a run, but with his arm and smarts. Penny had the choice and chose to hand it off. One qb can make the smart plays the other is willing to take the safe play.

It wasn't really a dive play. It was the counter to Brown they had ran in the second quarter. I guess you could call it one of the modified Wildcat plays. Pennington taps his foot, Williams goes in motion, Pennington fakes it to Ricky and hands it off the Brown on a middle counter.

The problem with the call wasn't necessarily Pennington audiblizing to a run play but audiblizing to a run play the Colts had seen, and been gashed by, earlier in the game. Also, if Jake Long had went after Feeney instead of the safety who was retreating, the play would have had a better chance of succeeding.

Lets go back to the playoff loss against Baltimore. 2nd and goal from the 1 yard line.......and Miami comes away with 3 points. There is something wrong with this pattern.

That was a combination of bad playcalling and good Baltimore defense. We tried to throw a play action pass at them on 2nd down but they got good penetration up the middle and the ran a sorry *** draw play on 3rd down. That draw play was a if we got a touchdown...great...if we didn't we would settle for the field goal and take a 3-0 lead.

I'm not sure how much of that is Henning or Pennington but it a conservative approach to scoring that gets teams in trouble.

Where on Earth is this supposed information coming from? If it's true, then I'm not really happy with Pennington's decision. But if it's not, which I really have no reason to think isn't the case until I see some proof, then it just another attempt to blame the problems of the entire team on Pennington.

Sparano said that the play that was called was an option, whatever Chad saw in the defense. It was the day after interview I believe. Go to the Dolphins website and watch the interview if you don't believe.
