People need to stop underrating the CB Travis Daniels...

Kelly Holcomb. He's our Gus Ferotte.

I'm surprised the Browns didn't try and keep him, he had some decent games for them in the past.

good pick up for the bills

he will be our top corner by the end of the season. rememeber madison and surtain really unexpectedly became 2 elite corners, expect the same or more from daniels, if you were to watch most of his college games you would see that he is a smart football player that doesnt make many mistakes, isnt caught out of position, has great hands, great cover skills, has good height, the only knock is his speed, but he is still faster then madison

Well i have to say your right on holcomb, i saw some of his 300 yd games, could be your starter ( secretly i hope he breaks his arm ) He might be a better option than losman

I don't think anyone's underrating him...I don't think anyone's seen enough of him to make a judgment.

At this stage it doesn't take much to be faster than Madison...but if he's as smart as Madison then we may have something. Poole was a 4th round pick too, but we had high hopes for him, as he played great at man to man, now add zone, and we have 2 good 4th round cb's.

You talk to coach Saban who is still openly pursuing Taylor and Law. He wouldnt be getting tham as depth either.

I tell ya what if I was a phin fan I would be a little more worried that a forth round rookie was shutting down my top WR than debating whether he is a starter or not.

Good point. But I don't believe he shut down Chambers. Didn't see or hear anything like that.

That's not completely accurate. We used a #2 pick on Madison. We expected big things from him. And Jimmy used a #2 and a future #1 on Surtain (that's Ricky territory). After he drafted Surtain, Jimmy said he thought Pat had the ability to be the best CB he ever coached.

You never know with the draft. And Surtain struggled taking over for T-Buck midseason in '99. But Jimmy had high expectations for both players.

I wouldn't say hes a better option than Losman, he's obviously a little more savy at this point, but its time to see what Losmans got firts.

He is a good guy to have incase of an injury, or Losman flat out sucking. But as a full time starter I might be worried, he not very consistant, and has performed better in spot duty than as "the guy"

One big diff here. Ferotte has 11 more td's than ints and Kelly has 2 more ints than TD's. Ill take the guy that doesnt turn the ball over quite as much.

I don't know who I'd take, Gus is more established, and has some better #'s, but has also played on better teams.

holcomb has had some really good games in the past.

Honestly I wouldn't want either as a long term starter.

He is already showing himself to be a solid starting CB as he has been able to digest the playbook AND he has been able to SHUTDOWN Chambers in practice.

He hasn't started a single NFL down yet.
This thread needs to be revisited after the preseason ends to have even one bit of credibility to any claims of Travis Daniels abilities good or bad.

No offense, but I haven't heard a word about people disrespecting Daniels. However, he's got a long way to go........

No it's not, Losman could turn out to be a probowler..................................
Or the next Ryan Leaf, Cade Mcnown, Jim Druckenmiller or well you get the idea.
By the way if he doesn't work out what is plan B ????????
A little off subject here...Do you realize 2 of the QBs that you mentioned were on our roster at one time. Jimmy thought that both Mcnown and Druckenmiller were future stars that just needed fresh starts. He was weak at evaluating the QB position (as well as the RB position).

i agree with you tho he is a good corner and in a system he knows very well

I don't know much about him, but this is good news if he works out well. There will be less single man coverage than the last 2 coaches had too, I hear.
