People who say we don't deserve to be in the playoffs...

Can I ask who does deserve to have the last playoff spots?

Lets say the division leaders are who they are, Chargers, Colts, Bengals, Pats...

the remaining 2 spots is between two 8-6 teams and six 7-7 teams...

So the two 8-6 teams are:
- Denver who is 2-6 in their last 8 games
- Baltimore whos gotten 4 of their wins against Clev (x2) Detroit and KC and the average # of wins that the teams they have beaten has is 5.25

Are either of these 2 teams deserving and why?

Now lets look at the 7-7 teams starting with us
- Dolphins 7-4 in their last 11 games, average # of wins that the teams they have beaten has is 5.86, most difficult schedule in the league
- Jaguars have lost 3 of their last 4, average wins of teams they've beaten is 5.29
- Steelers 1-5 in their last 6 games including losses to KC, Oak, and Clev
- Texans 2-4 in their last 6 games, average wins of teams they've beaten is 5.43
- Jets, average wins of teams they've beaten 5.86, just lost to a banged up Falcons team in New York
- Titans, 7-1 their last 8 games, average wins of teams they've beaten is 6

Can someone tell me why the Dolphins don't deserve to be in the playoffs but these other teams do?

The problem I find is people here watch the Dolphins games every play every week and they don't analyze the problems of the other teams as much as their own... every one of these teams have issues, thats why they have a record that they have... but what makes us any less deserving than any of the others on that list I dont understand, because we lost by 3 in overtime in Tennessee we now don't DESERVE to be in the playoffs?
 
If people say you are what your record is..when we are 7-7 and feel we are a better team.....the same applies if we get to 9-7 and qualify for a playoff spot....we are what our record is and a playoff team. We are better than the Jags, we outplayed the Titans T.O's killed us, were better than the Jets, Balt is 8-6 playing a much easier scheadule, Denver same and fading fast it would seem, and the Texans and Steelers we play.
If we finish 9-7 and make the playoffs we are a playoff team, and it has been proven no matter who we play we give them a tough time. Im from Cincinnati, and we would beat the bengals. Pats would be tough, but we did it once this year, Colts and Chargers we hung with, and honestly hung even closer than the scores would indicate. If we make the playoffs we are a playoff team....and quite frankly I believe we have a better shot than any 7-7, 8-6 team outside of the steelers, and ravens to hang with anyone in the AFC. Its just our style of play.

That being said if we go 9-7 and miss the playoffs, were a damn good team that is on the cusp. If we go 8-8 we have had a good year (if your a realist looking at injuries and scheadule and bad breaks)....point is if you say you are what your record is when your being a pessimist and 7-7, then you are what your record says it is at 9-7 and in the playoffs......a playoff team
 
i agree... i get tired of going in threads and people are like, stop talking about the playoffs we aren't a playoff caliber team... we dont deserve it, blah blah blah...
 
Yea there are alot of ppl on here who just dont wanna believe..They dont want to cause they dont like the let down afterward...If we get in, we get in..anything can happen..

We are getting better every game IMO..we make mistakes it happens..

But exactly right you are what your record is...You can predict how you will do in future off of that...

There are alot of ppl out there who just hate the dolphins too..They are jealous of what we have going right now

It is a knee jerk reaction from the game sunday. If we had won, no one would have been saying ****. Unfortunately most fans dont look at stuff objectively as you know, its week to week feast or famine.

One more thing alot of teams would be killing for a chance to be discussing the outside poss of playoffs, we win out (at home) we have a 63% chance....way higher if balt, den, jax lose.....all EXTREMELY possible. After this year, after everything, to not discuss or think were worthy is retarded. That being said if someone is making a thread to complain about how many threads there are and it boils down to us just winning then fine.
 
I was saying this the other day.

If you want to look at the 8 teams in the mix(non-division leaders) for the two wildcard spots, I would say the BEST TWO TEAMS would be the Phins and Titans with Baltimore just behind them.

The rest of the teams are garbage really. Its a total shame we might go 9-7 and miss a spot due to strength of ****ing victory to the Broncos(who won week 1 on a hair mary tip pass). Unreal.

Lets look at the others.........

Broncos- Total garb. Lost 6 or their last 8. Not deserving of a spot

Ravens - This team is actually pretty good and you could make an argument for them.

Titans - IMHO the next best team to the phins in the mix. They beat us in OT in their building. In our building, game could go the other way. They have won 7 of 8 games and are a fine team. Chances are they wont get in even if they go 9-7.

Houston - Theyre Houston. Garb. Inconsistant.

Jets - Garb.

Jacksonville - Total garb. The phins are CLEARLY better, destroying them on the road in a game that shouldnt have been close.

Steelers - Yea the won the super bowl..........LAST YEAR. This year they are garb. They just lost 6 in a row. The idea that because they won a home game in the last second, all of the sudden now they should be feared in some way is nonsense.

Phins and Titans are the two teams people dont want to see in the playoffs.

i agree with that. i don't know how far we'll get, but i think we definitely deserve to be there.
 
Balt is better than Tenn....and Denver is deserving of a spot bc they started the season 6-0, against **** teams yes. Its the NFL whoever makes the dance is deserving. We have had so many oppertunities......All I want to see is a week 17 game in Miami worth something

It's a self-defense mechanism - the people who want to stop hearing about playoffs are the same ones who are most likely to come down hard if they get their hopes up.

That's the great thing about being a pessimist - you're either pleasantly surprised or you're right.
 
Anyways, back on topic - of all the teams you mentioned, aside from us, I think the Jets are pretty deserving. If they didn't have a high school QB holding them back, they'd be going to the playoffs. #1 defenses usually go to the playoffs.

Titans - fairly deserving, yeah...I mean to rebound from 0-6 the way they have is quite remarkable.

So aside from our team, I'd say Jets and Titans are fairly deserving.

The Ravens aren't as good as their record would have you believe. They haven't beaten many quality opponents this year. And I hate the Ravens.

Ravens, Broncos, Jags, Steelers, Texans, no way.
 
Well said arsenal, I know what you mean, it also gets me crazy, considering how Miami loses still fighting, while most of these teams have been on tailspin dive for a while. We deserve it as much as any of them, and actually more then most of them.

I don't know how deserving or undeserving we are of a playoff spot. My questions are, out the remaining teams in contention for the wildcard, have any of them have given up as many big plays as Miami this year? And why the hell can't we stop them? Do our safeties ever provide over the top help?

In a word, NO.

However, if we do make the playoffs we are what our record says we are a playoff team, and if we don't make the playoffs we aren't a playoff team. It's really that simple. All a fan can hope for is a chance for their team to win a title, no matter how big or small, and if we don't make the playoffs we don't have that chance.
