I support the guy... But If I remember correctly, it was never publicly stated that he was playing with pain in his knee during the first four games. I think it was sort of speculated that he had some but it was never known for sure. This actually pisses me off because it sounds like he was playing with this and didn't tell anyone about it. I think this because this is the first time i've actually read a quote from him stating he was playing with pain. I seriously doubt that the coaches knew about this at the time. I hope he gets alot better.

I know it's a bit premature but not putting him on IR may be the right decision.

Good . So he had pain and never informed the coach during the contract signing and preseason?.Doesn`t sound right.

He obviously wanted to play so bad he didn't tell anyone/team doctors about the pain. Hard to fault the guy for wanting to contribute. Would still like to see the guy play this season if: 1. we lose a ame and are out of playoffs, and 2. the OL is playing well and can protect him, and 3. Ronnie Brown is at full strength so we have a running game.

Want to see if he is better than he played those 4 games, so we know what we've got in him for next year. Not a knock on Joey - just want to know if we need to draft a QB for the future or if Daunte IS the future (if Joey doesn't improve more).

I'm sure Daunte' having pain was a given when he signed on.

guys play with pain every game....whoopdee doo for culpepper

I understand that he is a competitor but he should put the team in front of his personal needs....Who knows where we could be if he would have held back and worked through his rehab correctly....He could be back at 100% and maybe just maybe we could have won one or two of the games he started due to him being injured....

He looked like he was limping from day one, why Saban played this guy is the ? ...... Doesn't seem like it did any good for him or the team....

He DID work through his rehab correctly. The reason he "slacked off" on his rehab, as some ignorant writers have termed it, is because training camp started. He was focused on practice. Then the preseason started, so he focused on the preseason games. Then the regular season started, and he focused on the Steelers, Bills, Titans, and Texans.

In other words, he did what he was supposed to do.

That wasnt the REAL Daunte Culpepper we saw out there. The medical ppl need shooting for getting his injury rehab and healing time so wrong. If Daunte was not telling the truth then i take that back but this is a professional sport and experts on hand every day so what happened? Backfired bigtime and IMO cost this team a playoff spot. Who is responsible for putting a QB who has been off for over a yr with a serious knee injury and then watches him under perform blatantly?

Sorry....but he should be faulted....it's a team sport....and being one of the main players....hiding a very serious fact that he still has pain....is nothing to be promoted...or to be proud of. His lack of truth has hurt the Dolphins.

Exactly. Damn him for WANTING to play football and help his team win. Why that becomes a "selfish" act is beyond me? Someone or some people (including Daunte) must have felt he was healthy enough to play. He wasn't, theres no other way around it. But I dont think that made him "selfish".

I could tell he was in pain by his play in the Buffalo game. I've said this before and I will say it again. He should have been pulled in the first quarter of that football game! He was throwing sidearm for Christ sake.

He gave us a zero chance of winning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He always throws kinda sidearm. What does that have to do with his knee?

I get what your saying from Daunte's point of view.

But think about it from a coach's. I once fractured my left hand slightly. But because the competitor I was... I still played highschool baseball with it. It affected the way I caught the ball (difficult to squeeze) and when I made contact while batting the pain was intense (no pop with connection). I would drop balls and contact with the pitch was weak. I affected the team. Basically, that's what happend with Daunte. When my coach found out I was hurt, he was pissed.
