Carolina apparently said they would not tag Peppers again this year, heard it on Sirius radio 2 minute drill.

Is this a possible direction we look at? J.Peppers has said he wants to play in a 34 defense. He would be pretty expensive to bring in or is this NE's prized FA afterall they looked into trading for him last year.

Well he's 30 now and still really good. I would be happy to get him, but I think he'll be on the Falcons.

I've loved Peppers ever since I watched him play at UNC......But he's going to be HUGELY expensive to sign.

Could we just sign him and if he doesn't play up to par during the season we cut him, or does this salary cap thing only last through a certain amount of time?

Well, it's just that we are going to have to commit a serious percentage of our availiable cash, cap or no to one player. It's literally almost impossibe for him to play up to what he's going to be paid.

He'll get paid alot less then last year, probably closer to the 10mil a year figure. Still way too much for his productivity, I'd rather give a huge pay day to V.Wilfork if possible. If we could sign him for a 6/7mil a year deal for 3/4 years then do it I guess but not 10 mil.

I understand you always take some risk in converting players from 4-3 ends to 3-4 olbs but they just dont carry the huge price tag that peppers would carry. I mean don't get me wrong he could very well be the best 3-4 lb thats ever played the game but in the same breath he could be a bigger waste of money than vernon gholston. The guy is def. athletic, but i've never seen him play without a hand on the ground and it's a huge difference.

No, I'd rather develop Wake and see what we have in him as a full time player.

True. I'd rather we just use the money on a player that is proven at the particular position.

We're not getting Peppers. He's too much money, but I would still be happy with him.

I have, and he looks more comfortable dropping back into coverage than any LB on this team. There's no doubt in my mind he could play the position.

The question with Peppers is and always will be how great is his desire to play. Hopefully having to prove himself at a new position would keep him interested in the game for a couple more years, but its no guarantee.

Panthers want picks for Peppers. Say that 5 times fast.

Peppers is a hard choice. On the good side you have a vet player with serious skills something this young defense needs and we wouldn't have to worry versing him when we take on the patriots (which btw they are interested in him). The other hand he is closer to end of career and injury more likely to happen and for some reason players at the end of career going to Miami is just awful. It's just fills like that every player that is at the end of their career that comes here do not come to play football, they come here to retire. I like that are team is young and some of them have a big chance to have a impact on this team. Although that has a bad side it to... waiting for them to get some experience.

I'm for it... Bring him in. Replace one Decade Team member with another. WR+Safety+MLB would need to be filled after the transaction.
