Just a thought and it's very realistic to believe that Culpepper's shoulder problem is a result of mechanics. This is not a Culpepper bash.

It's obvious to me that Culpepper, from preseason to now, has lacked the zip on his passes that he has had in the past. And it's also obvious that Culpepper hasn't been stepping into his throws and he has remained flat-footed for the most part. The result is using more arm and shoulder to get zip into his passes. This can result in inflammation (bursitis) in the shoulder and elbow. When I played I had a knee and ankle injury and this happened to my elbow/shoulder. I was compensating the loss of strength in my legs with my arm. It is a painful injury and it isn't unrealistic to over-use the arm so much that you start getting tears in the rotator cuff and other problems in the joints.

Just a thought...

that's interesting, now lets look at the run pass ratio of this offense for the first 4 weeks to see if maybe the team was putting to much emphasis on the passing game......okay, nm....we all know the answer to that.

its defienately possible, i hope cpep and the staff of our team are smart enough to reconginze and take steps to prevent it

Yea, alot of people (including myself) believe that he definetly hasn't shown his amazing arm strength and obviously that is due to his inability to fully step up on his passes. I know CPep will work thru all of this and be strong as the season progresses . . . but I must admit if Joey looks better in practice and can make the plays that Daunte is struggling with right now, than he should be givin a shot (not as an insult to Pep, but because he is the healthier guy right now). The WHOLE issue is . . . with this line, will Joey have more success . . . and I think that is the hesitation with pulling Pep. Saban obviously believes Pep is his guy for now and the future . . so unless Joey is gonna be a significant upgrade with the Line we have . . . . he's better off letting Daunte play and get stronger so he can break his funk or worst case be ready for next season.

I haven't noticed any lack of zip on his passes. But he has thrown the ball side-arm a few times. I wonder if he tweaked something on one of those type of throws.

I've seen quite a few flat-footed throws....even in last weeks game....all arm.

Exactly . . . think about it . . .we know he isn't stepping in to his passes but he still is rifling the ball . . . thats gonna wear on your arm eventually when u don't have your foot mechanics in place . . . because alot of your arm strength comes from stepping into passes.

Saban is quoted on ESPN.com saying that his shoulder injury is a bruise.

If it's a bruise and it happened in the Buffalo game, then it's pretty odd that it's only affecting him now. Interesting....

excellent post...

funny that you say this...I don't remember who the announcer was...I think it was the Bills game when one of the announcers said...that if CPEP keeps throwing the ball the way he has...he will injure his throwing arm because of his bad throwing motion...there was a pass where he threw to welker...it was like a side arm looking pass...he completed it but it was awful looking.

Go Fins...please just win on Sunday 10/8/06.

excellent post

his push off leg was shredded and now he is putting tremendous strain on his arm

it's terribly ironic that Brees' shoulder seem perefectly fine(I am not criticizing the decision)
