Per NFL Network: Koa Misi To Play ILB In 2012

Going from an OLB in a 3-4 to MLB in a 4-3 is a huge transition. A 3-4 OLB is basically a defensive lineman. Matt Millen made a similar transition back in the day but it's not one you see very often.

In Misi's case he'll have to become somewhat less aggressive (meaning, smarter). In coverage you see him bite on fakes way too often.

Consider this, Koa Misi moving inside might just be a smoke screen to really go after Luke Keuchly in the draft. Dolphins and GM Jeff Ireland always put out bad information, or leak miss information before the draft. They never want people to know exactly what they are after in the draft. I would love to land this guy Luke Keuchly. I know Luke Keuchly went to high school in Cincinnati and our new DC might have heard of him from his time with the Bengels. (Not sure how long he worked for the Bengels though?)

This is a good point. But at the same time, is anyone really a threat to trade up ahead of us to take Kuechly? Maybe I'm reading his buzz wrong but I doubt it.

meanwhile, if we go to a 4-3, Dansby is the only ILB on the field. if wake kicks down to DE, we have zero 4-3 OLB's on the roster (considering Burnett and Misi as ILB's). who is going to play the weak and strong OLB positions? i'm guessing Burnett would man one of them (but which one?).

Neither Burnett or Dansby are MLB's in a 4-3.

I'm starting to wonder why this information was leaked immediately following the combine....

It could very well be that Miami is looking at MLB or DE in this draft, or at least wants to appear that way.

another bust special for Ireland.
How is he a bust? Granted he doesn't have that explosive 1st step to be an edge rusher so he's not an ideal pass rushing OLB. However, he's strong and physical, sets the edge well against the run, plays well in pass defense and has a high motor.
I think he may be a good option as an ILB. He's big and physical enough to take on a guard. He is far from a bust.
Recall that the Steelers converted Timmons to ILB and he has done well, so its not an unheard of idea.

I dont care who our MLB is..Luke Keuchly would beat them out..and my god do I want him, unless of course we pony up and trade for RG3

I would LOVE Kuechly. Although, one of my good friends is an Eagles fan, and he would likely not talk to me for a while

He could do well in that position. Let's see how he does before we call him a bust.

If it wasn't for that idiot we wouldn't have Dansby or Marshall or Bush but whatever, The team moving Misi I think is a nice way of saying he will be a back up MLB next year it will either be Dansby or someone not on the team yet imo

If u can play ilb in a 3-4 you can play MLB in a 4-3 it's the same reads even easier u can go sideline to sideline its not as much gap responsibly with the guards covered up plus he did it in Arizona inside outside shoot he did it all there

They're moving Misi inside so that they won't have to address that posistion in the draft, but maybe in FA for backup or starter.

I dont recall dansby playing the mike in arizona. Im almost certain he waz solb..... bring in keuchly at 8 for me.

My boy is a huge Cardinal fan he said he played middle one season in 05 when Clancy Pendarglass was d cordnator , I also would love Keuchly our lb core would be set
