i'm perplexed, i'm not ready to call this firesale a bad thing. i mean, we certainly need more cap room, and this perhaps puts us in position for future years.

however, i feel like we are making more holes than we are filling. its like caulking with a power drill.

sure, get rid of Joey and Carter, those were moves that needed to be made.

but McMike? i mean come on, you mean to tell me that a tight end hungry team like Chicago wouldnt part with a 4th or 5th rounder for him?

i also think that we are really screwing around in free agency, we dont even have anyone scheduled for a visit yet, (except MAYBE Porter), i mean come on, we are going to HAVE to sign SOMEONE, we cant fill all the holes that we have with 9 draft picks. especially because i dont think anyone expects our 7th rounder from NE to start any time soon.

i just really hope that Cam and Mueller know what they are doing because from this end of it, it sure looks like we could be in a world of hurt come the season.

The problem is McMichael still had some years left on his deal. We would have had to find a trade partner willing to take that deal on...which isn't easy to do.

Actually we just signed TE David Martin and we're supposedly offering a contract to Kelley Washington. Then of course, as you mentioned there is the rumor concerning Porter. I think that once the initial signing frenzy subsides we'll see some FA signings to address the O-line.

If no team wants to give up a pick for Joey or Randy, and we don't want them, then why keep them? Just cut them and move on.
We could and probably will struggle next season, but if the future looks bright, then it's okay.
When we do struggle, some fans will complain that we should have keep so and so, but what the heck, can't make every fan happy.

I'am just glad we got a front office that has the balls to cut/trade all the crap thats on this team. I can't remember the last time this has happen. Jimmy Johnson did it to a point in 1996 and 1997, but not like this.

That's true to a point. Most teams that trade for a player usually work out a new contract before the trade. Most of the time. Now after saying that, when the Dolphins traded for that other piece of crap QB (C-Pep), they didn't get a new contract worked out for a few weeks.

I agree. I'm tempted to quote Saban on this one (despite a pit in my stomach). "Keep doing things the same way you've done them and you'll get the same results guaranteed." That logic does apply here. We could keep the status-quo and go nowhere, or we can make sweeping changes that give us a chance at a fresh start. I for one am pretty exicted at what Cam and Mueller are doing. It at least gives me somethin to read at work if nothing else. :D

This was the stickler.

What have we lost?

An overpaid loud mouth TE that couldn't outrun a Dlineman and blocked even worse?
An overpaid aging DE at 6.5M/yr where we have a young stud like Roth waiting or even Rod Wright
A backup QB who is not starting quality but yet was getting 3.5M/yr
An avg return guy who was our #3 WR
A LT who we all blasted and was benched only to regain his job because all of our guards got hurt sow e had to move LJ to guard because DMac was getting killed there.
Backup OL guys who were backups on one of the worst lines in the NFL
A backup RB who couldn't handle the starting job when given a shot. Good ST guy but is that enough anymore?

C'mon folks - get over it! We saved a TON of money and lost minimal production. Let's give some young new blood a chance. Our D will still be top 5 caliber and our offense can't be any worse - that would be impossible. This team will improve just by bringing in a new proven system.

Are they Broncos fans? All my cousins and aunts, uncles and whomever is out here are all Broncos fans. I'am the only one thats a Dolphins fan.

Pretty much all Donkey's fans.........I have represent when I trip out there. Dawn the Fins hat that I have had for almost 5 years.

Relax my man. We are poised for a flurry of signings. And, from the names that are in play, they are upgrades from the guys we sent packing.

Id have to agree except when considering McMike. This guy is in the upper echelon of all TE's, and I think it was premature to let him go. Cam's offense is, or at least was based around an athletic play making TE. He wont have that here any more.

As a result, him and the Mule better fill our holes on the O-Line so Ronnie can open up the passing game.
