Personality: Ryan Tannehill vs. Chad Henne

Henne's play showed significant improvement last year. Only so much a QB can do when the supposed alpha-WR can't hold on to TD passes. Skews the stats and costs the team wins.

I'll say it...Don't be surprised if Henne turns out to be the QB in Jacksonville we wish we had in Miami!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA...

Henne is and always was garbage... pure garbage

I have heard some local media guys (and I even made the comparison myself the first time I watched the Gruden show) say that Ryan Tannehill and Chad Henne have a similar personality. After seeing recent post-draft interviews with Tannehill, I must say he seems to carry himself with a quiet confidence that was missing from Henne.

Compare these two videos, both after they were both just drafted:

Chad Henne:

Henne just stares with this blank look on his face and has a very non-expressive tone of voice when he speaks. Inspires no confidence whatsoever. This never really got better during his tenure with the Dolphins, and was one reason he could never take over the team, especially coming after a guy like Pennington who oozed personality and confidence.

Ryan Tannehill: @ 2:22

Right off the bat, Tannehill seems much more excited and expressive than Henne ever did. In fact, Tannehill actually sounds a lot like Tim Tebow. He doesn't seem flustered by the moment at all and finishes an interview without looking like a robot slug.

Wow.. I cant believe that in 4 years Henne didnt grow at all.. Not only from a QB perspective but from a maturity perspective. He is the EXACT same guy in his his draft video that he is now. Mr. Roboto..

I mostly agree with you.

I think RT is more athletic but seriously ... could there have been a worse environment for Henne? His OC's were Neanderthal Coach and the only OC less effective than Neanderthal Coach when he was at Cleveland. He had to put up with Parcell's sniping at him and he really didn't have a lot to work with.

I think RT will be good but I also believe there is a good chance that Henne will be a lot better than people think he will.

In the first game, yes, he showed a side of him that never existed, but that is only how long it lasted for. The second and third game he regressed. He still played a little better than he had in the past, and he still sucked so bad

lol at ppl who still henne can get better. Dude had 4 years in miami, thats more than enough time to show what you have. For ppl not blaming henne for miami suckin, just look at matt moore, as soon he started for miami we started winning, end of story.

Not exactly how it happened.... Moore didn't start winning until the second half of the season. Which, by the way, was the typical story with the Dolphins under Sparano... suck for the first part of the season and get in a hole... then try to dig yourself out. Henne didn't really have four real years with CP and even when he started he had Henning to deal with, which Moore didn't.

Henne did show the occasional spark, especially early on. I don't know if the coaching staff ruined him or not (and I certainly don't put it past Sparano and Co.), but such moments were always overshadowed by far more wretched (and characteristic) performances, particularly when the game was on the line.

As for the notion that "now he'll show us"-- Yawn! Same thing was said about Chris Chambers when he left, and Ronnie Brown last year. Everyone's supposed to turn into an All-Pro once they leave here, yet surprisingly they don't (except for Wes Welker who, ironically enough, gets no credit whatsoever).

It would be great if some of Matty Moore's infectious upbeat, supportive team-uplifting personality can rub off on T/hill by osmosis, as IMO that intangible is one of MM's greatest assets.

I am not saying that "he'll show us" or that he will be an all-Pro - just that he could be a lot better than he showed.

The thing is, why are we even discussing this? Henne is a Jaguar. Trust me, T-Hill showed me more in 2 days than Henne showed in 4 years in Miami, and quite frankly, i wont miss him. FinsUp!

No one here understands that Henne's development was stunted. His growth was extremely compromised.
I hope we have learned our lesson

Please, Ryan Tannehill has swag and a hot ass wife. Henne was an awkward dude that put stuff up his shirt to look like he had boobers. Henne seemed passive
