So I keep on reading how everyone says that going 9-0 to finish the season is pretty much impossible and how that essentially means we have no chance at the playoffs. I also keep on reading how people say to forget the 9-0 and think of it as "one game at a time" which then relieves the pressure of winning 9 games in a row and subsequently makes our playoff picture look better.
As a fan, I'm not sold on either perspective. As a fan, not a player, all I have to go on is speculation, hope, and ALOT of thought. So, there is no way that I can not think about the playoffs. As a player, you would be stupid not to think of it that way, can you imagin going into a game thinking: "Oh man, I got to win this one plus 8 others just to even think about playoffs!"?
So, as a fan, here's the new perspective: Forget about going 9-0 and forget about the 1 game at a time idea. Our season is 5-6. We've just won 4 in a row. Who cares, all that is done. Now, all we have to do is go 5-0 to finish off the season. That is alot more manageable than 9-0 or ONLY thinking about the next game. I think that given the proper circumstance we can definately go 5-0.
We've been able to beat the Jags, whether at home or away, the last few outings, so it can be done.
New England suffers against Miami in Miami, we can beat them.
It seems like we always split the season with Buffalo and New York, so I can see it happening again.
Indy probably won't be playing all their starters and I was actually present the last time we beat Indy in the RCA Dome, with all their starters, so it is not impossible.
