PERSPECTIVE: FH Fans aren't always right... Opinions from the WayBack Machine

Wow a lot of those posts are either from the "draft guru" or the Same people who have shot down the idea of picking up Tannehill at 8. Interesting.....

I wanted Brees, I wanted Quinn, I wanted Cutler, I DID NOT want Vince Young, I wanted Mallett (especially in the 3rd freakin round!), you can also put me down for Tannehill at #8 or lower or Weedon in the 2nd round. I am not interested in any other QB's in this draft.

I couldn't find any of my old posts in these threads, but this is where I stood from what I remember.

For Drew Brees
Against Alex Smith and Aaron Rodgers (I was convinced Rodgers would be another Tedford failure)
Against Matt Ryan (Didn't think he was a surefire franchise QB)

And for what its worth, even though I have my doubts, I am FOR Tannehill.

Like a poster above said, you will never find a franchise QB if you never draft. Time to roll the dice on a 1st round QB already, and keep drafting them until we hit...

I just think it's funny when fans get hostile in trying to tell you they are an expert with a specific player. They throw around the word "tape" like they were just sitting in the meeting room analyzing every play. Some people here do and have watched tape in the past. But I know that an overwhelming majority here have not.

typical BOOMER.

his football knowledge and opinions are almost as bad as his politics.

i aced those two tests. why, and how exactly did you choose the comments and posters you did?

i can see adding the "gurus" , but there were major millions of opinions on those two subjects, expecially brees and the jay feidler wars.

i remember a certain mod during those times, right before the brees draft that pm'ed me saying i would be BANNED if i kept talking about DREW BREES and the finz drafting him. it was never going to happen, he was never going to make it in the nfl and EVERYONE BUT ME knew it. thats between all the swear words and insults included. i had my tag line before that as "WE SHOULD DRAFT DREW BREES" and he HATED that and he took it off.

we had a couple real winners here for a while. those were bad times here at finheaven. after he "left" and things turned around i added a WE SHOULD HAVE DRAFTED DREW BREES" tag. sweet revenge as i said all along, before and after that draft that drew would be a pro bowl qb in 3 years and would win a superbowl. that was REAL popular!!!!

just wish you would have gone further with the quotes. i would like to see more of that sort of thing as its fun to see the egg on folks faces. i know there WERE a couple more guys on the board who knew brees would be a great qb and the finz should have taken him. both times!! its fun to go back and see
peoples posts. i expecially like the ones who are so sure of their opinion and took every moment to tell everyone else how wrong they were and how little they knew about the game and the draft and then be as wrong as wrong can get!!!

those are my fav's.

funny, they never come back and say, wow, sorry guys, i sure missed on that......., etc.....

Just shorten it to "Acorn lover", cheaper, they charge by the letter for those things.

great post.... just shows how some of the fans can fall in love or hate on a guy without much evidenceon how good/bad a player can really be. Im on board now with not drafting Tannehill. He isnt that good and has a big potential to be a bust for us. No on tannehill today.
Hooefully in 2-3 years my post will make ur list of fan thoughts on the draft.

Funny stuff.

The thing is, if the Dolphins HAD drafted Brees, Rodgers or Ryan, then those guys would not be the players that they are today. They would not be household names, they might be playing for their second teams by now instead.

WE were not set up to allow QB's to succeed, to learn and grow. Hopefully that will be different now. I can't help but think that Henne would have had more success with a different OC and Head Coach. He still looks like he could be better than Flaco to me.

Funny read....you mean the premier talent evaluators on this site aren't always right?!?!?

LOL this is a great thread by Skape. By the way I stand behind my words and feel compelled to add SOME context: Liked Matt Ryan but was a bigger fan of Joe Flacco, who has had amazingly similar statistics despite being drafted much later.

Let the record also show I actually broke my TV when we passed on Brees in the draft :)

PREMIER talent evaluators?

where? who?

Just shows that people shouldn't make quick judgements no matter what the situation b/c you won't really know what will happen until said player proves it on the field years later.

This board needed this thread two weeks ago! What a fabulous change of venue.

Mark me down for this, if you have the balls and someone is willing, trade down and grab Tannehill later in the first but if you think he is your man, don't overthink the value and draft the boy at 8th if not move on.

You have to take a chance at something before you can fail or suceed at it but goddamn at least have the balls to take a chance and let the cards fall as the may.
