Pete Prisco: Dolphins Camp Notes

I wouldn't bet against him pulling it off. He will start, but I'm sure he is going to get plenty of rest and relief from the other backs.

Remember, artificial turf is hard on runningbacks...getting off that and onto grass will make a big difference.

Interesting tidbit
I mentioned him yesterday, he's like a poor man's RB, which if he does get hurt might be a good thing. I also mentioned James Davis, who with Hightower and Torrain there getting carries, was just released 2 days ago...

ive got two questions ?and i want all you guys to ANSWER in your own way . how big is chris johnson compaired to reggie bush ? and what makes him any diff from running in the trenches the way johnson does ?
Reggie is slightly larger but Chris Johnson is just a freak. I can't think of anyone else with his build that has been this successful.

Jamaal Charles.

Jamaal is pretty darn good but Johnson still has almost double the number of carries. Amazing when you think of his build. Hopefully Charles will hold up as well but a lot of guys that size just can't do it.

Rumours are that Ryan Grant could get released, C.Pitts is scheduled to make 4+mil and is 3rd on the depth chart, S.Slaten will get cut before anyone trades for him.

The point is there will be a handful of decent 3rd string RB's available if LJ doesn't work out. Personally I like the fact that LJ hasn't really played football much in the last two years, nothing motivates a player more then taking his potential income away. LJ is really in a last chance run right now and usually that's when players that really realize that perform to the best of their abilities.

Lots of options!

Warrick Dunn also had a great career being smaller than Bush. Lets see if he can, I hope he can. Funny some of you thought would he get up I kept thinking when is he taking it to the house with each touch.

There are 2 players who are critical to our offense this season. IMO we need them BOTH healthy for the whole season. When Gates and Bush are on the field, it creates an obvious pick your poison situation. And whats so particular about this one is it splits the field north south instead of east west. Its not a rarity to have teams with number 1 and 2 WRs with alot of speed, then its side to side problem.

What we have here though is a really fast wideout and an exceptionnaly fast and agile RB. The chek down then becomes somewhat of a problem because of the possibility that the 3-4 yards gain usually associated with this simple play becomes a threat of a catch and run to the house. Im telling you, if those guys stay healthy, DC's are going to have to gamble alot and when you've got guys like Bess and Marshall running around one on one, it could be real fun to watch...

Steve Slaton is kind of like Bush in the way that he didnt meet the hype after being drafted. It would be great if he could also turn it around, but what are the odds?

To be fair, he did have a single great year before being benched for fumbles. After he got benched, Arian Foster and Ben Tate started going nuts. Personally, i cant blame him for not beating out Foster. I dont see to much shame in being benched for "only" running for 1200 yards instead of 1700.

Back to the article, im stunned, just stunned, that Pete Prisco made it an entire blog spot about the Dolphins without breaking down into some semi-understandable rant about how unamerican the Wildcat formation is and anyone who runs it needs to be shot.

Ben Tate has never played a down in the regular season...wouldnt really say he "went nuts"
