Dolphins get a C. Could have easily been an A with one little change. Brees for fletcher. Bumstedt, what a maroon.:shakeno:

14. Miami. Four first-day picks and the worst was the first -- cornerback Jamar Fletcher. Chris Chambers is a top-line wideout, and Travis Minor and Morlon Greenwood are serviceable pros. The Fins got nothing from Day 2.

This is quite old and was already posted about a week ago. Nonetheless, I agree. Jamar Fletcher was just a horrible pick. There wasn't a worse talent evaluater than Dave Wannsted.

No offense but why do people keep bringing this up.

Up until 2 years ago Brees was the same bust as Fletcher. Brees was horrible and if not for a Rivers hold out he would be a backup right now.

Had he come to Miami he would either be gone to another team or out of a job right now.

He literally stunk up the joint for 4 years.

Yea, Jamar Fletcher none the less when Madison and Surtain were in their prime..and our offense was holding us back........great move Wanny!! Sure am glad I dont have to worry about that schmuck round here no more!

He sat out the first year so he stunk it up 2 years, and kicked a$$ 2 more years, those 2 years, well the first one he was literally a rookie, and the second one he had no rcvrs, not TE yet (Gates didnt break out till 2004), and no OLine, so yes, his maturing process was pretty normal, he didnt stunk it up for decades and had 2 fluke season, anyways, we gave Fiedler even more time than that.:shakeno:

And you think he would have survived here? It's a moot point. Brees would have failed in Miami and he would have been gone with Wanny.

Hasselback probably thanks his lucky stars everyday that the trade here didn't happen. Miami just did not have the coaching or offensive consistency.

That draft grade is really generous to. Could easily have been scored a D.

That is exactly the point!!!

Brees would have never lasted here. So the argument is pointless

Thanks for realizing it =O)

well i agree it wasnt really a great pick

BUT!!!! at the time prolly alot of ppl thought it would be, b.c i beleieve he is on the list of top 50 or 100 best college players

Jamar Fletcher was a bad and unnecessary pick for Miami, however he was good in San Diego as a nickel corner and was the second best corner on our 28th ranked pass D for the season in my opinion. Jamar is in Detroit now and I think he is a good player.

No QB could last under Wanny's schemes. Only Marino in his prime would've had any chance of surviving. Brees would've been gone. Not that Fletcher was a good pick. He wasn't. He was supposed to be heir to Pat and Sam and now he's not even good enough for the horrible Chargers secondary. Fred Smoot, Ken Lucas, or Andre Dyson would've been better CB picks.

No he didn't. Brees tore it up in his 4th season.

What really bothered me was hearing that SD wanted to trade up with us to secure Brees and Wanny was so scared he'd miss out on Jamar he backed down. And then he put his mentor, Jimmy Johnson's draft strategy to work by trading next year's 2nd for a 3rd in the current draft to select Morlon Greenwood. A solid LB but NOT worth a 2nd and a 3rd, especially when he's gone as a FA with no chance of any kind of compensation. The Texans did overpay for him, just like they overpaid for Todd Wade, and others I'm sure, I just can't think of them right now...Goodnight fellow Phinfans.

i also noticed from that how bad the pats draft was that year. at some point the writers will forget about the great 6th round pick of brady and realize that bellychick is not some mastermind. charlie weis was, but bellychick isn't

At least we walked away with Chambers.
