On NBC, King said that there is nothing in Bill Cowher's Pitt contract that precludes him from being a 'consultant' in 2007.. He mentioned that Cowher might consider siging on with Miami as a consultant, and return to coaching in 08.. Capers or Mularkey being a stop gap until he comes back..

No picks would be given up..

Interesting scenario.. I wonder if Capers might be up for that?

Is that his fantasy or is this based on some info he has? I hate not knowing the angle behind statements. Interesting idea however.

I would assume that both Capers and Mularkey would serve as co-head-coaches for 1 year.

I like the idea, make it happen Wayne.

any assistant with any self-pride wouldn't do that. Why would they keep the seat warm for just a year??? WOuldn't they want the job full-time themselves?

Makes no sense. I dont' see it happening

Considering both coached under Cowher, I think it could work, co-head coaches , untill we get the chin!

Make it happen Wayne !

The only thing I can think of is that its another chance for them to repair their tarnished image as a head coach.. If they finish respectably, it may give them more to put on their resume for a bid at another head coaching gig...

Think about it, as it stands now, it is highly unlikely that either Capers or Mularkey will ever get a head coaching gig ever again..

Why doesn't Cower just come now then???

Part with the picks and get him!

I agree, but it really depends on how realistically they view themselves and their own prospects.

the 9th overall pick plus another next year? That is a HEFTY price! That pick could be our QB...

yeah I agree, it's doesn't make sense at all. Just hire a young, hungry coach and forget about Cowher.

It was a segment on Football Night in America on NBC..

I think it was more of Peter King thinking outside of the box though.. I dont think he had any inside info on this, but remember, he WAS right about Nick Saban.. The guy is perceptive..

It wouldn't be a 1st round pick for a coach :shakeno:

I think Peter King has been reading some of the posts here at Finheaven.
