Here's an excerpt from Peter King's MMQB Column:

"How about Miami getting two second-round picks for Wes Welker and Chris Chambers? What a personnel disaster that team in Miami has been. Those are winning players, and the Dolphins get only two picks in the 60 neighborhood."

I wonder if King saw the interceptions Chambers let occur in subsequent weeks? Its not an aberration when Chambers doesn't fight for the ball and an interception results.

Every week he KILLS us for the Welker trade. And now he's piling on with the Chambers trade. Yes, the Miami Dolphins HAVE been a personnel disaster, but those two moves were actually positive!

he doesn't know what rebuilding means.
How do you rebuild, Peter? THROUGH THE DRAFT!!!!!!!!!

But according to King, those two are "winning players." What the heck is a "winning player"? A guy that is catching balls from Tom Brady? Or maybe a guy who was traded to a team with offensive weapons and a killer defense?

As we all have said a million times, Welker in NE is far greater than Welker in Miami! He would have had about 60 catches in Miami. Chambers was underachieving horribly before we traded him and I could not be happier with these two trades. I like both guys but Satele and ~#56 in this draft are more important to us now than Chambers and Welker. If these two were such world beaters, then why were we 6-10 with them both on the field? They are both in situations that fit them far better than the situation in Miami. You couldn't draw up a more perfect situation for Welker. Peter King is a moron that would have said we raped the Patriots if Welker had not put up the monster numbers...of course I could have caught 50 passes on that team.

Keeping Chambers during the rebuilding process wouldn't have made sense. He's 29yrs old, had a big contract, and the Fins drafted Ginn at #9. Overall, Chambers under performed while a Dolphin. Getting a 2nd rounder was good value.
As for Welker, I knew right away that he'd excel with the Pats but I still wanted to trade him. He wouldn't have had near the same effect in Miami. Satele seems like a great pick too. Besides, the Pats were going to use the poison pill in the contract to get him. Kraft wanted to avoid the bad publicity and tossed in a late pick. Either way, Welker would've been a Patriot so people need to get over it. We have a new GM now anyhow. If Peter King wants to complain, it should be directed towards Randy Mueller.

As much as I love Chris Chambers it was time for us to move on. But in Peter King's defense looking in from the outside and not following out team on a day-to-day basis it is easy to look at the success of Chambers and Welker and mismanagement.

We got steals for both Chambers and Welker. Chambers really isn't worth more than a 3rd, everyone here said it and San Diego actually gave us aa 2nd for the guy. Good for him he's working out in San Diego, he wasn't working out here and I would have done that trade over and over again. He's more comfortable just being a roleplayer in San Diego, then trying to become a star and focal point of an offense in Miami.

Same goes with Wes.

I think its just a matter of Peter King being lazy.

I can understand having to explain this to the occasional misguided fan, but King really never surprises me when he writes crap like this. It shows he seriously does not know what he is talkign about from time to time

i dont agree with what he said but what u said about Chambers letting an INT happen how are u going play Deffence when u are in the Air already he was up in the Air trying to catch it and Samuels went around him and got it there wasnt anything u can do Have u ever even Played WR in football or Football at all

Truth will be told if those two picks we got for Welker and Chambers become big contributors to Miami in the future then King will have to eat those words. Time will tell if that was a good move or not.

Interesting that he never mentions that Randy Moss was acquired for a 4th Rounder!!! That was a much worse deal... and what Miami needs now is picks, as many as possible, especially with good talent evaluators like Parcells at the helm. The Chambers deal is at best or worst a wash as both sides got what they needed...

It has been said to death but Welker is thriving in an offence with so many more weapons than what we have... He has always been a 'sneaky' producer and is the type of receiver who thrives when the attention is elsewhere. That being said he is an excellent 'clutch' receiver and his work ethic and 'atypical' stature... made him a fan fav here... THERE IS NOT A CHANCE IN HELL THAT WELKER'S PRESENCE HERE WOULD HAVE MADE ONE IOTA OF A DIFFERENCE IN THE SEASON WE HAD.

Be happy for the guy he is getting recognized for something we in Miami have known for years...

Now let's take those picks and look to OUR future.

I have never in my life played organized football. That said, I have two eyes and a firm grasp on the English language. My experience in actually playing the game is not a factor in my judgment of Chris Chambers.

It is a fact that Chambers struggles when he has to fight for the football. The Asante Samuels interception was a perfect expample of this problem. Even the announcers (which included one ex-football player, Phil Simms) blamed Chambers for the interception

Peter King is a joke. He's like a High school newspaper editor let loose on the sports world.

But, he actually has a point IMO. Not necesarily with Chambers who I am glad we got rid off, but with Welker and a long list of other guys.

The Fullback with the Pats, Heath Evans, their special teams ace, Zach's ex-roommate, the TE that the Pack got from us. There are a long list of players who passed through here and were all much better on other teams. The RB that Denver got off of our practice squad.

We haven't kept the right players, or developed them to the best of their capabilities. The TE situation is a good example, we switched TE's with Green bay this off season, didn't we? It wasn't a straight up trade, just a coincidence...

But look how good the guy that they got played this year, and look at what we ended up with at TE...

I'm not so sure Donald Lee was so great. I remember him fumbling all the time.

I think our main personnel problems have not been with letting the wrong guys leave, but acquiring the wrong guys to begin with. How many ex-Dolphins have made the Pro-Bowl? None, I think. Unless Welker made it.
