So Peter King was just on Mike and Mike talking about the combine. He mentioned Brady Quinn's stock and basically said that he thinks that if Quinn is available at number 9 the Dolphins will take him.
Then he told a story that I really liked. He said that Cam asked Quinn about all of Notre Dame's non-passing plays. He then had Quinn go and draw up every single non-passing play and describe what everyone on the field is doing in each play. Quinn tried his best but couldn't quite do it on the spot. Cam then told him he would have a second interview and that he HAD to ace his test second time. I don't know what this says about Quinn, but to me it says alot about Cam. Saban may have done something like this, but I know that Wanny would never do anything like that. Neither would Pete Carroll if we got him.

I think you are right. That was a very intelligent way of having a young guy prove himself. On the other hand, its not really the QBs job to know exactly where the tight end will be blocking on a stretch right. Obviously, it would prove that Quinn is more cerebral, but I don't see how it would make or break a decision about one. I guess if Quinn doesn't know, Brady probably doesn't either.

Cam already saids he wants a leader first. If you're gonna lead, you better know everything that's going on all the time.

Exactly. I can kind of confirm this form personal experiance. In my high school basketball career, I found myself much more successful my senior year when I knew everyone's job on every play. It allowed me to get in their face when they screwed up and coach them on the floor, and it also helped me to know where they would be when I got into a hard spot.

The point is, you're right JuMiami. You have to know what your center had for breakfast, what your running back listend to on his way to the stadium, and what color underwear your right tackle is wearing (so to speak) in order to be the best leader possible.

I think that was a pretty intelligent way to gear him. Although it may not affect his status whether we would draft him or not it does tell you the type of knowledge he has of the offense he ran over the years he was there. I mean, you give Zach Thomas a question like that and he'd have easily done it. But everyone knows he's obsessed...

Well put.

If you don't know a guy's assignment how are you going to correct him?

Great post.

no what he said was Cam asked him how many running plays he had, Quinn said about 20. than Cam asked how many pass protection plays he had, Quinn said about 25. than Cam wanted him to draw up all 45 or so plays on the spot. thats a heck of a lot of plays and I bet thats not even half the playbook. but anyway I like what Cameron is doing, Quinn has said he really likes Cameron now. this only solidifies my beleif that Culpepper is a goner and that Quinn is coming to Miami

I got a feeling Brady will get it right on the 2nd interview. He's a smart, hard working leader.

King wrote about this on Monday. He said Cam sprung this on him with about 7 minutes left in the interview. There was little to no chance Brady could complete it (had to draw them all up on the whiteboard). Cameron told him he'd have to do it faster and lose no efficiency the next time they meet.

King said Quinn loved it.

I would have to disagree, as I think any top QB would know exactly where everyone is supposed to be as plays breakdown and they need to improvise.I bet you TB or PM would be able to answer.

but they are veterans and some of the best in the league, they should have it down by now

Wouldn't it be funny if Quinn was just up there making up plays on the fly.....How would Cam know the difference??......Also, what are the repercussions (sp) of him not knowing them all in the second interview??? He may not be available at 9 anyway.

There is a story at FSU QB Chris Weinke knew everybodys assignment before the end of freshmen training camp. Bowden made him the starter just as he could without offending his senior QB.

Daunte probaly couldn't draw tic-tac-toe plays on the board.
