The difference between this year and last might just be the schedule. This one's a bruiser, starting with Atlanta on the road, Indy at home and San Diego on the road, and ending at Tennessee and home with Houston and Pittsburgh. Every one of those teams could win 10 games, and that's how the Fins have to start and end the season. I really like the Pat White second-round pick, but if Chad Pennington doesn't stay upright, playing Chad Henne with White in relief could be a major pothole.

People on this board will still cry. Every year people act as if Miami is the only team to improve themselves in the offseason. Our schedule is brutal we could realisticly start 0-6. I think 3-3 would be amazing all things considered.

I agree with this ranking. CBS sports site has us at 26.

No way we are the 26th ranked team. I don't care how brutal our schedule is.

The only thing I don't agree with is the line of thinking that puts someone's schedule into consideration for power rankings. Power rankings are supposed to be someones opinion of how good each team is. If Pittsburgh plays the pats this season does that make Pitt a lesser team? It's stupid IMO

I think he ranked the Bears too high but he's probably about right with Miami. I would probably stick them a couple of places higher but I'm completely biased and always looking for the good in Miami.

thats reasonable for the Dolphins but I dont like the entire rankings...quite a few things need to be changed

everyone has the bears rated high because they traded for a QB that may seem good but has a losing record (of course you could put some blame on the rest of the team for his record.) but i remember us playing the broncos and cutler just never looked off recievers. i think he knew who he was gonna throw to regardless of if they were actually open but yes. i agree with our ranking.

edit: 600th post! WOOT! =P

I think Peter King (as well as many other football analysts) put far too much emphasis on difficulty of a team's schedule. For any NFL team, the first goal is to win the division, and that will secure a playoff game at home. Fourteen out of sixteen games are against the same opponents for each team in every division. In other words, it's almost pointless to compare the Dolphins schedule to the Ravens, for example, and it is definitely of no use to compare it to an NFC's team schedule. And in comparison to other teams in the AFC East, the schedule is nearly identical.

Look at the team(s) and not a schedule that has yet to be played when listing power rankings. Save the looking at the schedule for the last month of the season when analyzing and predicting the playoff races.

He has the Jets ahead of us and they will most likely have a rookie starting QB. Plus they have 14 games alike as the Phins do. Those rankings are a joke. Anybody who agrees we are the 17th best team in the NFL needs to turn in their fan hood right now. Every year their are 8 division winners and we were one of those teams last year. We go from the upper portion of the league to the middle after we significantly upgraded numerous positions because of the tough schedule we play? FYI if you even watch football ever you will know that the team going into the season with the "toughest schedule" never actually ends up playing the toughest schedule. Last year was a cake walk.....it looked like it could have been a tough year going in but it ended up being a weak schedule. You play who you play and that is it. We drop down from a Top 10 team to 17 because of our schedule? Hah King is a patriots blowhard.
With a revamped power running game, a significantly upgraded defensive backfield including a dynamic saftey combo, and MR Patrick White tearing up defense from the wildcat formation, the Dolphins wil have a great second seaon under Tony and Bill and Jeff. OUr schedule will prepare us for the postseason.....unlike last season when we did not play the extremely tough game.

i will bet money right now we dont start 0-6!

Am I the only one who thinks power ranking are rediculous??? It's not grading the best 32 teams from top to bottom, it's who wins that week. One of the more useless things ever....kinda like a passer-rating.

The thing is that until the games start you never know who is going to be good. just like us last year. power rankings are a waste of time.

I think it would not suprise me to win 5 games this year ,plus we dont have much depth at dt .

if miami could win 4 games and get into some good draft position and then trade down for more pick then the next year would be a lot better.
unfortunatley the dolphins are about the only team that cant seem to trade down for more picks .
my expectations for this year is 6 wins but hoping for 8 wins
