I was curious which of the two LB'ers was statistically better, after checking on their career numbers here is what I found.

These numbers are based on the last 6 years(each player missed considerable playing time due to an injury in a season once)

Arrington Game Tackles Sacks Int TD career
79 396 22 3 1
16 99 11 3 1 season high

Peterson 79 394 21 5 0
16 94 7 2 0

Simply comparing the two based on numbers they are the same player, however IMO Arrington looks the part( I realize that makes no difference)
however Saban may feel that they are the same player and will work hard to sign the player that fits in with the team concept better which will deffinetly
include money....my gut says Peterson *** if Miami signs either, I dont feel that either will except the money miami is offering.

Good stuff. Either one would be great. I think we may take Peterson only because he and Saban have some history together at Michigan State.

If we do sign one of these two, that would conclude our FA for a while minus maybe a cheap Maddox deal.

Let's put it this way either one will be more productive than Seau was, due to injuries and Spragan starting. No running back will go the the outside's or the middle!:dolphins:

lol then where they gonna go:lol:

yah both have their benefits with Peterson dropping back in coverage welll which is a knock on LaVar, and LaVar being able to rush the passer and clog lanes better than Peterson can. Its all going to come down to who fits our system the best obviously, if the money is close Saban will still choose the player that fits us the best over the cheaper player if thats what he thinks is best for this team. Sometimes you do get what you pay for. But either way I trust Saban and his decision because both are great players. Between the Qbs and the LBs, Saban has had some tough decisions to make.

Wow I would have thought the Peterson had the more impressive stats...their almost mirror images of each other. If we were to sign either one I would prefer Peterson because I believe he's a little faster and better in coverage. Either one would be a welcome addition to our LB corp.

Its all in what saban whants for his D

If he is willing to let Arrington "freelance" alittle and jump around and make plays (ala Seau) then I think he will be the best fit.

I like Arrington better. IMO he's much more intimidating. When you talk about a 'beast' linebacker, this is exactly the kind of guy ur talking bout. And look how well he did in the playoffs...
