Ross won't admit to a gaffe. The only chance is to sell the franchise to someone with class, taste, and common sense. He'd make the old uniforms and logo a priority on day one, and apologize to the fan base for the current atrocity.
That being said, someone who fits those descriptions is not going to be suckered and pay top dollar for an old patched stadium.
We're stuck. So many low percentage wrong turns.
It's just a tragedy that the uniform issue coincided with such low caliber people atop the front office. The litmus test in that regard was Gator Day. That idea should have been shot down within 30 seconds, and anyone who proposed it shown the door. Instead it somehow advanced through one stage after another to the point it actually happened. I mention this because some Canes fans are still livid. I attended a Canes basketball game this afternoon against College of Charleston. During a timeout I heard three guys behind me talking about the Dolphins. This arose when the scoreboard showed a picture of new Canes coach Mark Richt and the crowd erupted in applause. One of the three guys behind me said we should know about the new Dolphins coach within a few weeks. One other guy agreed and they threw out a few names. I was listening in curiosity. Then the third guy cut them off: "I don't give a damn. After Gator Day the Dolphins don't exist to me."
BTW, Rick Barry's son plays for College of Charleston. Yep, son not grandson. Major improvement since last season. He shoots free throws underhand like his dad but not nearly as effectively, connecting on 2 of 4 today. He did score 20 points. Apparently the Canes coach Larranaga didn't want to offer him a scholarship, thinking he wasn't good enough. Mistake, after what I saw today.
