Can't wait to rip Mortensen and Schefter when he picks the Dolphins.

[h=3]Report: Peyton Manning Narrows Choices[/h]

Contacted by a dozen teams after his name appeared on the NFL's internal personnel notice, free agent quarterback Peyton Manning[URL="http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/7672173/denver-broncos-arizona-cardinals-peyton-manning-favorites-sources-say"]has narrowed the list of teams
he's considering playing for, ESPN's Chris Mortensen and Adam Schefter report.

Manning met with the Denver Broncos on Friday and will meet with the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. The report also states the Seattle Seahawks have been attempting to arrange a meeting with Manning, but have been unable to get one.

The Miami Dolphins, the presumptive favorites for Manning's services given owner Stephen Ross' financial interest in making it happen and the organization's locale, both in terms of weather and conference, may not be as high on Manning's list as originally thought, with the report stating that Manning is "leading towards Denver".

Broncos owner Pat Bowlen flew back to Denver from his home in Hawai'i and is financially committed to landing Manning. The Broncos are an appealing option as they have an excellent defense, solid offensive line and last year showed a willingness to adapt their offense around the skills of their quarterback.

Still, it's hard to see the Dolphins being relegated to the "show" position in the race for the former Colt and not think that teams in a cold-weather city (Denver), and in the same conference as his brother Eli (Arizona), are being used to leverage a better deal in Miami.

Manning has a condo in Miami, his wife reportedly likes it there, the team is willing to let key free agents walk in order to have the cash and cap space available to sign Manning and free agent receiver Reggie Wayne, Manning's top target the last few years who played at the University of Miami and who also lives in the area in the off-season. Ross has swung wildly missed on his targets before (see Harbaugh, Jim and Fisher, Jeff), so it's certainly possible that it could happen again. But once Manning meets with the Dolphins, sees their commitment to landing him, I still think he ends up in Orange & Teal.

I have a good feeling his agents are leaking stuff to Mortensen and Schefter to get other clubs in a little panic mode. They are playing the agent game and these reporters are biting on it.

I cant believe there saying Manning down to 2 choices and Miami is out im so sure how do they no. I doubt Manning to Miami is completely dead.....

This is why Peyton pays Tom Condon the money he pays him. He's one of the best agents out there. To me, for whatever reason, these are moves designed to put pressure on the Phins. All the media is good for today is for carrying someones water. None of these guys do any heavy lifting any more and they don't have an adult sized brain between the lot of them.

That's what I'm thinking. However if you believe that, the question IMO becomes why is the agent doing this, are the Dolphins playing hardball with him? Is Condon just trying to show Manning he's worth the money he's paid?

It's hard to believe Manning wouldn't understand there is a lot of money for him in Miami. Maybe he wants more than Wayne to come to Miami, maybe he wants Saturday join him as well, and the Phins are not cool with that?

Shoot, I should be one of these media guys. I can make sh*t up too!

Watch Mort and Adam say the Dolphins are in the lead when he visits Miami. *sigh*

Even Florio thinks they're trying to screw Ross out of more money with this report.

As soon as Manning steps off the plane and feel the comfortable sunshine on his neck, we will have the edge again.
Peyton's wife and kids are crucial to the decision too. I think he will be torn, but ultimately choose Miami if Ireland concedes and Ross gives him a superior deal, plus business opportunities after football.
We have a pretty good team, and the chance to compete against the New England, Buffalo, and New York in his old division(before the Colts were moved to the central) add some familiarity. The northeast games will give him a chance to hook up with his brother from time to time.
I think we have all the intangibles.

IDIOTS!!! How can the 'Fins be already "OUT OF IT", yet still have an interview/meeting with Ross/Ireland tomorrow.I doubt very seriously that Peyton would waste our/his time,if he already narrowed it down.God I "HATE" the media. They've ruined alot of people, and continue to do so...........

Agreed. Alot of the media is nothing more than glorified PR people for whoever is flavor of the month i.e. is the most controversial or sensational.

i dont think folks are thinking about the very real possability that the finz brass are not interested in signing manning and havnt since day one.

maybe they have a plan to side step big names and flash and build a solid, long term team with their own young players and draft pics?

everybody is going on and on about the front office dragging their feet on peyton but maybe their not dragging their feet, their just not in it? maybe condon has known this for a while and thats why we are not on the tour and no meetings have been set?

makes sense. just think if ross was all in, full monte, money no object. red carpets, caviar, hookers and blow, hai alai tickets, helicopter rides, etc.... and manning walks. this would be an almost death blow for ross and further courtships with big coaches and players after all the other jilts he's taken. he would have a permanent jester hat plugged on his head!!

there is so much HUGE risk in the manning thing. if one looks at it all with OPEN eyes, how it effects us financially, how it effects the offensive staff, our future to sign free agents and sign our own players, ross's reputation, etc.... its not worth it. if manning was 26 instead of 36, like brees was with his injury, it would be better. but add in the fact his age and his "end at any minute" injury on top
of everything i mentioned and this is looking much more like a dolphin KILLER rather than savior.

so, when he lands in texas or the arizona, dont go ape poop on ross and ireland as feet draggers, its more likely their manning interest was ALL a media concoction.

We'll know tommorrow IMO. He either flies to Miami or not. If he does not meet with Miami, then we are out.

Quite frankly, it doesnt bother me and it shouldnt bother Ireland or Philbin. I think they will make our offense go whether it be with Peyton or Moore and somebody else. I truly believe that. We just have to get our right side of line.
