First of all Manning never had a strong arm to begin with, he had an accurate arm. Second, everyone was saying the same **** about Brees when he had the rotator cuff injury and right now he has a stronger arm than he did when he was in the Chargers.

it was said that peyton was throwing bk before the playoffs and bk then at 20 yards it was said he was throwing hard enough to be able to knock someone down at that distances.

Chris Weinke had the same injury as Peyton Manning and didn't start having the nerves regenerate until the 6 month mark. Manning isn't at the 6 month mark until march. It's still early guys.

Uh, it's way past the six month mark. You're thinking about the third surgery, which he only had done because his recovery looked dire. It's been about a year since the first surgery, I think.

But that is what the author is saying. His arm strength now, because of the nerve damage, is the same as Pennington's arm strength at the end of his career. It doesn't matter what Manning's arm strength used to be, it only matters what it is now.

I understand that but to assume Manning can't get back to where his arm strength was before just b/c Pennington didn't/couldn't isn't fair.

Lol IMO Pennington did an amazing job taking that team to that record. I don't care how many games they won against sub .500 teams.....winning 10 games in the nfl is difficult. Example Packers losing to chiefs and Giants losing to Skins last year. Pennington did more with a crappy offense and horrible game plan because of his ability to make smart plays. He can't be blamed because they lost to the Ravens in the playoffs. Get your opinions straight!

You seem to be rewriting history. Against BALT, MIA was in that game in spite of Penny's INT's going into the 3rd. He then threw a INT after the break that helped put the game away. 4 ****ING INTS...not 1, not 2, not 3, but 4 INTS. He then started the next season where he left off...throwing INTS against teams that were PO teams.

The WC was born because of the lackluster offense that he was the leader of. A formation that took the ball from Penny. A offense that was ranked 23rd. It is what it is. Unlike you, I seen that season for what it was...smoke and mirrors. And it set MIA back a year or two. Now you can go back to reminiscing about 08 and where it left this franchise. A WHOLE ****ING NEW COACHING STAFF.

BTW, I'm for getting Manning if he is healthy. But you don't go into the season with a 36 year old QB with arm problems, period. QB is a must, not for me or you, but for this new coaching staff. This new coach will want to run HIS offense and start his HC career doing things HIS way. If that is Flynn or RGIII or Manning, I will ride with that decision.

No he won't.

Peyton is a hard worker and like Chad Pennington, he trusts that all he needs is TIME to heal.

It's a shame but the fact that Peyton's nerve reconstruction time includes periods above 12 months puts his case out of NFL standards.
I mean, How is going to sign a 60+ Million dollars contract to a 35+ legend who might not throw a single pass in 2012? I hope Miami stays out of such Kool Aid.

As today, it's a known report that Peyton Manning not only lacks velocity, but can't throw to his left. I understand it's February but can't expect to correct such thing in less than 6 months if he wants to create chemistry with his receivers.

penny was awful in that ravens playoff game...the ravens took the shine off that penny...exposed chad...stacked the box stacked everything up inside the #'s jumped anything outside the #'s...had a bunch of guys standing up at the snap to take away pennys underneath throws

if manning has truly got a late in his career penny arm right now i don't think you can win in the postseason like that...you might beat bad football teams that way but you won't beat quality ones like that...even with mannings precise timing and accuracy if you don't got the arm to get it out there and make teams pay for stacking the box against the run you're in trouble against the big boys...

that said we'll get a better idea of how manning really is once he's released and available to anyone in free agency...if there's a bunch of teams out for his services this sounds like nothing but smoke to me...either way don't sign him without taking him out and asking him to spin the rock for ya

Correction with noodle-arm plus the wildcat formation.

Defenses were unprepared for such offense. As soon as such thing lose the surprise factor, noodle-arm proved insufficient. Just remember that pathetic playoff game where Chad threw 4 ints.

We dont have until August to make a decision on Manning. We have to decide by March 13 if we would be willing to get Manning.

Miami went 10-6 with the Wildcat against a last placed schedule with no Tom Brady. Miami was 0-3 with Pennington until they unwrapped the Wildcat. You saw what happened against Baltimore, not just in the playoffs, but also in the other game against Baltimore where he was throwing pick 6's to Terrell Suggs.

The most TD's Pennington ever threw in his career in a single season was 22. He only threw 19 during his "awesome" season with Miami in '08.

Matt Moore threw 16 TD's in 12 starts. Matt Moore can easily approach the same level as Chad Pennington.

I actually think Matt Moore could be the best quarterback Miami has had since Marino, which isn't saying much... but it's a start. He's not held back by limited physical tools like Jay Fiedler or Chad Pennington, or held back by his lack of mental aptitude and feel for the game like Chad Henne.

You're always looking to improve on your QB position until you KNOW you have a very good-elite player at the position, as opposed to HOPING you do.

I still think Peyton Manning is D-O-N-E. Even if he isn't, he's not going to be the same. Even if he is the same, he's not coming to Miami. If I'm wrong on all 3... well... it just ain't possible.

People who say "well, Peyton Manning with a noodle arm is still better than anything else available" need to put down the bong. Peyton always had a gun for an arm, and for him to play without that would be a huge adjustment. Pennington never had an arm and so his whole game was built around dinks and timing and placement. That's not Peyton's game.

Would you sign Favre if he had a "noodle arm"? Didn't think so.
