– DE Cameron Wake (+7.8) finished with his highest overall grade since Week 1 of last season and what a performance it was. Wake was an absolute force as a pass rusher – his +7.3 pass rushing grade is the highest single-game pass rushing grade from a 4-3 defensive end so far this season – tallying four sacks (forcing fumbles on two of them) along with two additional pressures.

– While Wake dominated on the outside, DT Ndamukong Suh (+4.3) more than held his own in the interior. He was somewhat quiet against the run (+0.4), but consistently disruptive as a pass rusher (+3.1). Suh had two pressures of his own, opened up rushing lanes for his teammates and even deflected two balls at the line of scrimmage.

– On the offense, QB Ryan Tannehill (+4.8) easily had his best game of the season. Tannehill had an absolute field day against the Titans’ blitz (+3.5 passing grade when blitzed), completing 10 of 14 passes for 166 yards and a touchdown.

Top performers:

DE Cameron Wake (+7.8)
QB Ryan Tannehill (+4.8)
DT Ndamukong Suh (+4.7)
LB Jelani Jenkins (+2.2)
WR Rishard Matthews (+2.0)

Tannehill smoked a Ray Horton defense his rookie year against Arizona and did okay against him the year after playing at Cleveland. Something to remember.

This is what a QB does when a team blitzes and the blocking gives him enough time. If they can run the ball and pass protect like that (not perfect, but solid), Tannehill will excel. He made every kind of throw that you want. He lit it up at crunch time because they weren't in "must run" mode and he hadn't been beaten down all game. This is exactly what his supporters have been predicting.

A few other notes:

1. How about that deep ball to Stills? Perfect touch.
2. Tannehill was accurate with the ball, especially on the critical 4th quarter drive.
3. Holy **** they let him roll out and run with it occasionally.
4. How about the play action passing? Here are two stills from the last drive on the play where Tannehill has a chance to go to his second or third option to Landry:

I wish all of the critics would take note, but I'm pretty sure they won't.

I would love to know what adjustments they made to block better or was this just an attitude?

4th quarter was Tannehill's best quarter this year . . . hopefully it's a sign of things to come. First 3 quarters way typical of the Tannehill we have seen this year.

Things snapped for Ryan around this time last year so I lets keep it going vs. Houston next game.

More about balance than anything else. When a team knows you are gonna pass 3 out of every 4 plays, that puts your offensive line in a disadvantage in pass blocking situation. Miami was able to effectively use the play action pass today because of the running game they established early on. Tannehill made it clear early on that he was gonna be a threat to run if the defense dictated that it was open. Just those type of things can slow up a defense a half of second/full second and often, that makes the extra difference.

Billy Turner's insertion was pivotal . . . he was smooth out there, and Dallas Thomas was being used as a pulling guard and lead blocker for Miller to some pretty decent success. Just a different mentality out there and it seemed to reflect their head coach.

Campbell got in there collective faces!

Don't be surprised if Campbell chokes somebody out before the season is over! I would if I were him!!!

I actually like how some people say: What's wrong with Suh..he was invisible that game? LOL!

This is the important part, the other stuff should be commonly expected considering player caliber of those mentioned. This here shows Tannehill can take it next level when the rest of the offense executes

Adding a pro bowl LT helps...

I think that was known from day one. Tannehill is not a guy the Fins are gonna be able to lean on to carry them on his back. He ain't Dan Marino . . . and that is ok. He can be effective when the team is winning at the line of scrimmage.

I think that is the ultimate confusion on this kid. You have his biggest supporters feeling he is a top 5 QB and can make plays on his own to will his team to a win and you have his biggest detractors feeling he isn't on the level needed to make plays and carry his team through the playoffs.

He can be a solid starting QB in the NFL when we are balanced on offense.

Great summary and my feelings exactly. Miami can win with him, but he must have the support around him.
