PFF - NFL's best, worst teams at drafting in the first round since 2020

Even if u give Grier credit. Dolphins ain't no where near winning SB, Division or wildcard games. We still at same spot. We are middle of pack team. Every now and than make wildcard and get beat go home. Greir must be related to Ross. Why keep GM. That never win anything in nfl? 20 yr Grier been around dolphins and still see same thing going on failing forward.

Lol. Pff, ha, I've been told pff is garbage, no wait, it says something good about someone I like, pff is the greatest!!!

Yeah his issue hasn’t been drafting although his later rounds could use some work. His first rounds have been solid, 2nd round about 50/50 although Patrick Paul could be tiebreaker depending on how he turns out. After the 2nd it’s pretty bad though.

His bigger issue is the trades and lost picks. Given his record of atleast usually getting someone solid in the 1st or 2nd, Miami is probably in a much better position had we not given away 3 1st and a 2nd due to the Chubb/tyreek and the whole tampering bs. Then trading up to select Eich as well as Jaylen Wright (although I love wright and see him being a monster but the trade up then not using him this year is baffling).

Player retention is definitely an issue as he never seems to offer players contracts early enough to get discounts and then the one time we probably should of waited is with Tua and he gave him the contract.

In any case he should of been fired due to the above but he wasn’t so all we can do is pray he can continue 1st round hits and get some later in the draft and for the love of god keep our picks, hell trade back and grab some for next year. This draft depending on how it falls has some pretty similar players from like 10-35 so if we can grab an extra 2nd this year or 1st next year by trading back im down.

Part of that is new HCs wanting to move on from players who don't match 'his scheme,' he was able to get an amazing haul for Tunsil, and Minkah was a potential cancer. Grier, and the HC, have made some puzzling decisions, but not all.

He played in every game and started 10 games for the Reskins. He played over 800 snaps 76% and gave up 40 catches on 71 targets 56% for 397 yards. Stop hating. That’s crazy good. You call that a bust? And his playoff stats were 1 for 1 for 1 yards, 4 for 7 for 70 yards and 3 for 3 for 30 yards. Not great. But he was playing two of the hottest offenses in football. He had better numbers than Fuller on the season.
He was terrible here and in Dallas and was a reach / project when we took him. I hope he’s ascending / good for him. He wasn’t a smart pick at the time / we didn’t need to take a CB in round 1. It was a really poor use of our 3rd no 1 pick that year. He can become an all-pro one day and it was still a bad pick at the time.

Yes!!!!!!!!!!! Iggy as an example was great, on our way boys!
He's a starter on a good Kommandants defense, so it was more like a lack of coaching in Miami or identifying his best position is NB, rather than poor drafting.

Wash uses him as a starting nickelback. The Dolphins never seemed to realize his best position is NB, not boundary. It was more like bad coaching than bad drafting.

I mean I wouldn’t say he was a major contributor, he’s played the nickel and was targeted 4 times and gave up 4 receptions for 44 yards. Divisional round was targeted 8 times and gave up 5 receptions on 8 targets for 93 yards. So no he hasn’t turned into some rising star or anything. This was the most he’s played in his career though and he’s only 25 so maybe but so far he’s still a pretty big bust.
Nickel is essentially a starting position since most teams have more snaps in their nickel package than they do in their base.

Fans often use PFF as confirmation bias. It's quoted when it supports their opinion and ignored or dissed when it doesn't.

And gave up two picks to take Eich instead of Creed and to take Hunter Long instead of Quinn Meinerz. I was pounding the table for Meinerz for weeks before that draft.
We got Eich and Long in the same draft with all of that maneuvering? Yikes.

I was pulling for him here - we all were. He didn’t really get on the field much. He did have the game saving INT vs Pitt that night and it was glorious. He is still very young at 25. His time is “now” until he’s 29ish to earn a big pay day. Always seemed like a nice kid. No hate. Just didn’t think we needed a CB in round 1 that year. I would love to have 3 no 1 picks in a draft again. I don’t know if we ever had that other than in 2020?

Grier was trying to get players for the defense that Flores wanted. Noah, Davis, Brandon Jones, etc.
