[h=1]PFF Preview: Packers @ Dolphins, Week 6[/h]Joe Velardo | October 10, 2014

  • Share by Email
The Green Bay Packers, led by the red-hot duo of Aaron Rodgers and Jordy Nelson, will head into Miami for Week 6 and take on a strong Dolphins defense.
Rodgers is currently leading all QBs with at least 150 drop-backs in PFF QB Rating with a 102.3 mark and is also Top 10 in both Accuracy Percentage and Passing Under Pressure. Nelson is fifth among WRs with at least 30 targets in WR Rating and boasts a 3.24 Yards per Route Run which is good enough for the No. 1 spot.

Cameron Wake has not only the highest pass rush grade among 4-3 DEs with a +14.6, but it is second among all defensive players in the league behind only Bucs’ DT Gerald McCoy. OLB Jelani Jenkins is having a breakout year: No. 2 among 4-3 OLBs in Run Stop Percentage with 16 stops and is No. 2 in coverage, and has only missed a single tackle on the year.
Here are three more notable numbers for each side:
Green Bay Packers

Corey Linsley – The rookie came into the season as a question mark, but has come on strong after posting the highest overall and run blocking grade (+4.9) among centers in Week 5.

Julius Peppers – Peppers is seventh overall in Pass Rush Productivity among 3-4 OLBs and is tied with Clay Matthews for the Packers’ lead in pressures.
Josh Sitton – Sitton is the No. 1 guard in the league and is also the only guard with a pass block and run block grade above +5.0.
Miami Dolphins

Branden Albert – Comes in tied for second in Pass Blocking Efficiency among tackles with 160 passing snpas, allowing only one sack and posting a +9.6 overall grade.

Jared Odrick – Odrick sits at seventh in Pass Rush Productivity among DTs with at least 100 snaps and also has a +3.6 grade against the run.

Michael Thomas – The DB has made his presence felt on kickoff and punt coverage with seven tackles on the year and zero missed tackles factoring into his +4.0 mark.

Pee Wee, kinda quietly, is having a VG year so far. We need to extend his contract.

Damn jenkins is really playing well, only one missed tackle.

I agree. Odrick is pretty underrated imo.

Other than Wake, I believe he has been our best on the DL, and that's saying something with the play of Starks, Mitchell, and OV.

He has been all over the field on the run, in cover, and ever the pass rush. Hat to think where we would be without him.

All these numbers seem great and all, but it's not like we've beaten a good team that is playing well.

We beat up on a confused New England team, got killed by a winless KC team, killed by a Bills team with a horrible QB, and picked on a Raiders team that hasn't won a game since early last year.

Honestly, these numbers are more of an illusion than anything else, with the exception that I do believe in Jenkins.

Forget the numbers. Have you seen Wake and Odrick not playing very well?

Forgot, same with Albert.

Wake did nothing in Buffalo against a ROOKIE RT and was a non-factor against KC. In fact, he hasn't had a sack in the last 3 games. Although he had some hurries against the Raiders, it was the Raiders.

Green Bay will be a much better test of who this team really is, which at this point, no-one really knows.

Ypur above statement still doesn't take away the fact of how well these players are playing. I guess you missed the fact that 75 percent of the league is tied or one game away from first place. This is year is parady at its finest.

Looking at wins that way is pretty silly. KC whipped NE. They almost beat SF too. They were a playoff team last year.

Bills also beat the Lions who also beat the Packers. What does that say about the Packers?

In fact, the Packers barely beat the hapless Jets. What wins do they have that are impressive? The Christian Ponder led Vikings without AP?

WOW! Wake had a hit and 4 hurries vs KC, a hit and a hurry vs Buff, and a hit with 3 hurries vs Oak. Gotta watch what he was up against, and sacks are not the only thing that matters. Pick on anyone but, not Wake if you watch games.

Yeah its hard to get a gauge on where some of these teams are right now and KC came close to beating Denver as well. Maybe the Bills really are a 9 or 10 win team right now. Maybe the Patriots aren't as bad as they looked against KC, maybe KC is just that good. We're going to learn a lot about our team on Sunday going against a team we know is upper echelon. And if Tannehill manages a 90+ rating we're going to win, book it.
